    1985 Atc110

I aquired this 110 about 4 days ago. My brother came home one day and said there was a 110 sitting at the junk yard that didnt look in baad shape, so we took a trip down there to look at it.

The guys at the yard told me it had been through the flood that happened resently here, and that they were pretty sure the crank case was full of water. Other than that they knew nothing. I ended up trading a minibike i had for it (couldnt ride the mini bike due to physical limitations).

We loaded the trike up and headed for the local Honda dealer to pick up a spark plug (wasnt one in it) and we put a gallon of gas in the tank on the way home.

Unloaded it from the truck, choked it, and it fired right up without hesitation. Heres some pics:

It would run for about 10 minutes and starve for fuel, so i cleaned the carb. The screen in the carb was packed full of sand. After cleaning it, i havent had any issues of it dying.

I do realize it has the wrong plastic and tank on it, but it works. The rear plastic is in great shape, the tank has some dents and has been patched (poorly). The pervious owner welded a shifter on it, which is far too short for anyone to get there foot under, so i need to lengthen it.

The high/low works and it shifts fine through all 4 gears (shifts up). The handle bars and bent slightly and it does smoke, but it runs well. All the bearings are solid. All in all, i ended up getting this for free, since the minibike was given to me with a brand new engine and clutch, ready to ride.

As of right now, i cannot pull start it, i am not strong enough to pull it over fast enough. I am physically disabled from being hit by a car 4 years ago. I am thinking about trying to make a kick start mechanism for it in place of the stock pull start, this way i can start it on my own (i can kick start my 81R without problem).

Hope you enjoy my little story.

Please tell me you changed the oil on this trike? As far as not pull starting, why don't you get something with electric start? There are alternatives. You can get a lifan engine and the parts to install that and you can get the lifan with electric start then you would have to add a battery.

Sweet story and great junkyard find.

Definitely change the oil on it before you find out that it had water in it and you mess things up too bad.

Ditto on the Lifan engines. The only problem with the kickstart is that you'll have issues with the rear fender getting in the way, but everything can be modded to make it work. Good luck!

I havent changed the oil yet, thats on the list of things to do tomorrow. But i still dont see how any water could have gotten into the crank case, its all sealed. The oil doesnt have water in it. Guess it doesnt matter anyway, i always change the oil is stuff after i get them.

My brother scored another 110 today (traded a push mower for it) that has the correct tank and plastics i need for mine, along with a complete engine (3rd and 4the gears are stripped out on it). I am buying everything but the frame for $20 and another friend of mine is buying the frame for $20.

In the end i will end up with a decent looking '85 ATC110.

As for lifan engines and so forth, i dont have the money for one. I really dont feel like shelling out $300 for a lifan engine when i can buy complete running quads and trikes for that much.

And if i did buy a lifan, it would be for my little '83 ATC70. I am hoping i can trade this 110 for 2 ATC70s to a guy i know (has 6 of them).

Well, it sounds like you have a definite plan. I wish I could find 110s' for $40 bucks, but that doesn't happen. And to trade a 110 for 2 atck70s. That's never happened either. Get us some pictures when you can of the 110s and the 70s if the trade goes through.

    Hey Phil,

I need a few small things for my 83 110 if you can help. I need brake shoes, an air filter, rear axle bearings, and a petcock (really I just need the petcock gasket). If you have any of that in decent shape please let me know a price.

I also have an 83 tank in decent shape that I can make a trade or something with you for if you are interested.

Its not in good shape at the moment. Needs front and rear wheel bearing put in ( i have them ready to install ), a kicker, new sprockets front and rear, and a clutch soon.

When im all done putting good parts on m y 110 and changing the frame on my friends 110, i should end up with a complete set of good plastics, a tank, a busted frame, and everything else to a 110 (minus air box i believe). I will let you know what i have and how much itll be shipped.

Ill post pics of the "parts" 110. It was free as well (brother got 2 push mowers given to him and trade one of them for the 110)

Its a way of life for us since money is always short. It helps a lot when you know how to fix things that other people just throw away for simple reasons.

jeopardy, does your 110 have the petcok on the tank or on the carb? all of them i have are on the carb. If you just need the gasket, put a thin bead of Sylicone around it, thats how i did my atc70.

I dont believe i have any axle bearings that are any good. New ones are around $25. I would just buy an air filter as well, unless you need the metal screen that came stock. I removed the metal screen on my R and just attached a generic Uni cleaner.

I believe i have a decent set of brakes shoes, but i will check tomorrow and let you know for sure.

Phil, my petcock is attached to the carb but the two small screws allow it to come off and if the petcock is closed then it won't leak allowing you to seperate the two. I will just go the sealant route, thanks.

I can buy the bearings and filter but I though I would check. If you have a pair of good shoes, I will take them from you. Thanks.
