mainly the brakes, wheels, clutch... and also several other minor changes like the paint, rear suspension, hubs, seat cover, swingarm gusseting, fork valving, etc..

The first thing that will set them apart is the 1984 has front drum breaks. 85 has front disk.
There areother minute differences as well.

Yes, I think the 84 had 8 inch steel wheels didn't it? And the wheels and forks are painted gold.

The 85 has 10" aluminum wheels and no gold.

    Clutches are slightly different.

thats it in a nutshell basically.
84 had gold colored forks, rims, swinger. drum brakes up front, the clutch springs, pushrod, and plates were different, 8" 4x4" botl pattern rims. rear shock wasnt as adjustable.

85 was upgraded to disc front brakes, silver forks, swinger, rims. different clutch springs, push rod, and plates, 10" rims with the 4x156mm bolt pattern, and a better more adjustable rear shock. the fork springs and valving were beefed up i guess you could say as well. i believe the dogbone on the 85 is different in length as well then the 84 model.
1985 KXT 250 Tecate - kx cylinder, kx ignition, bassani headpipe, answer silencer, v-force reeds, 38mm airstyker carb, +2 franks swinger, raptor rear shock.

    1996 YSF240 Blaster - maxxed out!!!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "HOLY SH-T, what a ride!"
