the cam cover is leaking what do i put on it to stop.
take the rocker box off, go to your local honda yamaha shop and get either hondabond, yamabond, or three-bond. these products are all the same but work much better than rtv sealant honda actually uses it on most of their center cases etc now instead of gaskets
ok thanks. i put rtv seal, and and its ok. buts still leaks whats the heat rating for them. cuz i put some atv seal on it and it started to boil.
what is atv seal? are you just smearing it on the outside or taking it apart and applying between the rocker box and head? not much will stop the leak by just putting it on the outside
Use Hondabond, I like it better them Yamabond. It needs to be a semi drying sealant unlike RTV.

When you take that cover off, make sure it and the head are free of high spots or scrapes. I like to use an oil stone with WD40 and I rarely have another leak when doing that and using three-bond.

Good point!I should be a bit more specific before people start grabbing an 8x11 sheet of 120 grit paper and having at it
That would surely crunch the cam riding journals.
My oil stone of choice is a triangular stone with a 5/6 wide surface about 1.5"s long. If you run it along the sealing surface, it's very easy to see all the high spots and watch them disappear and the WD40 keeps things moving well.
This is why DEEPA calls me STONE![]()
