Well now you guys have done it! I'm trying to make something.

Well I started on this yesterday. It's pretty well just a mock up at this point. The front end is going on nicely though. Other than I will need to grind the steering stops off the bike the tripples go right one. I was concerned about the diameter that slips through the frame but it was the same, then I was concerned about the bearings. The bike had tapered roller bearings instead of individual balls and it goes together perfect. Any guesses as to what is going on here? Ha ha. And I put this here instead of the custom build section because it's hardly top teir. Ha ha. Maybe someday. It should go together somewhat quickly because I alread had just about all the parts I need. I might need to spend like $100 on misc.
Any ideas what it is? Sorry about the camera phone pic.

Pretty much yep, it's actually an XL500R. It's a 200X front end just because I have a few of them. Thats the stock tank and I'm going to try an ATC250R swing arm. The engine has a 10 (or 10.5 cant remember) to 1 Weisco and fresh bore, hasn't even been started yet. I installed that like 10 years ago and never finished it. lol.
I've got 2 complete 1982 XL500Rs (1 runs), one complete and running 1979 XL500s and one 1982 XL500R rolling frame which is what I am using here.
I think it should run decent. Its not an RFVC motor but neither is a 350X so it still should have a lot more power than my 350X which is stock. I had license on my one 82 XL500R and it did fairly well.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but i think you would be better off with 250r forks instead of the small diameter and short 200x forks. Some use 350x forks and tripples to kind of counter-act the fork rake issue, that too is an option.

Some of the rake is because the bearings are not in the steering stem because I need to grind the stops and the wheel is not in the fork and the rear is a lot lower than it will be because it does not have rear tires on it.
But I appriciate your suggestions. I am going to try it like this because I have the parts and if I need to change it later I will. I have a 250R and 350X and I didn't even notice the forks were all that different. lol.
But yes the extra diamter and length will be very nice. Thanks for the input.
I am going to try to have a roller by Friday and if I do I'll post a new pic.
