    Looked at a Tecate today...

Not shure on the year but it has a red tank and green fenders. I think the fenders are the origional ones and the tank is not. It has a drum brake in the front and disk in the year. Engine seems to have good compression and has kx flywheel and stator. Tires are shot and rims kinda bent. Rad is in great shape and has metal gaurd for it. On the front fender is says "Fox" and it's not a sticker, it's in the plastic. Any ideas? Both brake line/hose are missing. Asked him how much he wanted and he said $200 Is this a good deal? Frame is rusty and is missing grab bar. Sprockets are shot but axle is strait. Don't have pics, camera was dead...

    84. They all require lots of cash to bring back safely and reliably. But it's worth every dollar and every minute invested if it what you like.

Are the cables still avalible? Arn't parts easier to find for the 84-85's then the 86-87's? I think with a kx cdi and some gas it would fire. But not stop Are these trannys hard to work on if it had to be split?

I know the oem clutch cable is discontinued, front brake, dont know. But, Motion Pro makes all of them. Parts can be found with patients. Trannys are as basic as it gets for a 2 stroke bike.

I own an ATV shop, and can get you pretty much everything you'll need to bring it back to life.

dont forget the 84/85 models did come in wildfire red as well as lime green.
1985 KXT 250 Tecate - kx cylinder, kx ignition, bassani headpipe, answer silencer, v-force reeds, 38mm airstyker carb, +2 franks swinger, raptor rear shock.

    1996 YSF240 Blaster - maxxed out!!!

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "HOLY SH-T, what a ride!"

I'm not shure what I'll go with, (red or lime). But the lime is in good shape (under all the white stuff) and the red is also. We'll see, mabey christmas colors will look cool and give it a "sleeper" look.
