Dale, is it a YZ or IT 465. They preceded the 490 engines, and from what i understand were pretty tempermental. Many people consider the late 70's YZ 400 to be a very good engine. I believe the 490 is a big bore 465. Think the 465's were made in 80-81.

Here in the states the yz 490 debuted in 82, but i think the IT 465 may have gone to 82? The IT's were a bit less aggressive in tune, but were still plenty fast. And may have actually been better! And for a trike conversion i would think those IT engines might work better than the YZ counterparts. Where we have raced in Three Rivers, there is a 82 or 83 IT 490. Dale, it sat up next to the concession stand. Don't know if you noticed it. It was the big light blue bike with yellow decals. Might be the owners bike or something?
