need some help with installing new bearings in a 85 350x carrier

hears the deal. ordered new bearings and seals off ebay. my origianl bearings on the right side was totally shot and fell apart. installed the sprocket side bearing and dust seal no problems. on the brake side there is 2 grooves inside the carrier(look like O-ring grooves) yet no parts for this or any inside the carrier. there is only enough room for the bearing and not the dust seal. anyone have any ideas? are the bearings supposed to be the same size or are they supposed to be a differant thickness. at this point i'm ready to just buy a new carrier preloaded, but want to give a shout and hope somone knows where i went wrong. thanks

    Something doesn't make sense.....

Both sides get a bearing and a seal and no o rings in that area. Between them is a sleeve so that when the axle nut is tightened, there is no sideload on the bearing. If there is grooving where the bearing OD presses or seats in, then the carrier is junk. And, you must have the spacer or the bearings will not last at all....

The inside shoulder (where the bearing seats) to the opposite shoulder, should be appx equal to the spacer length.....

i feel like an idoit. when i removed it i had know idea what i would be seeing. since 1 bearing was so bad the outer race was so froze to the carrier it was left behind. there was a bit of surface rust on it and when i realized that aluminum doesn't rust and that there shouldn't be O-rings in there. i was able to beat the race out and everything went in smooth after that. thanks for trying to help out the my special ed ass anyway!
