Starting on restoring my 86 250SX. It's coming along real slow right now. Hoping to find some before pictures to compare to the now pictures. Here's what I've got done so far.

looking good. here is an old pic of it before you started.
Looks really good, keep up the great work! my restore took along time also. Take your time and don't cut any corners, you'll thank yourself when it's all done. Is that a big red final drive? Don't for get to put the drive shaft in before the motor That's one of the many things that I did wrong![]()
Tapper

It's actually a SX final drive. I decided to use some different colors here and there than what it was originaly. Figure if I don't like it when I get it put together all I got to do is paint it back black.
How hard is it to put one of them things back togeather let alone take it apart? I plan on doing a resto this coming winter on mine. Not gonna lie though, i am pretty nervous about doing it.
Jim
p.s. looking great so far! is that powder coated?
Jim,
It not much of a job. Make sure you don't forget the drive shaft. I put mine altogether including installing the motor by myself. Did you get the PM with the picture of my SX. Am sending some.
Lloyd
lloyd,
yes i was going to head down to the farm in an hour or so and get my pic back to you (i want to double check what i need).
Well I got my work table fixed and got everything out of the shed when it quit raining so I can have some more room. Anyhow here are some updated pictres of what the SX looks like now. Hopefully I'll have the wheels on it before night.
So did you paint that frame or powdercoat. Looks good.
ya that nice looking for sure, cant wait to see it finished!
Ray
Got some more pictures. I made a little more progress before the rain started. If I can get a few more dry days I should be able to get done.
Lookin' great! everyone of these old wheelers deserve to be saved. (although this one was already in pretty decent shape!)
So how much you have sunk into it so far?
Looking Good!!!!!!!!

Currently trikeless
So far I have a little over 1,200 in it counting what i gave for the bike a few months ago. I have had a good case of Murphy's Law with this one. If it had to be touched to tear the bike down, it had something wrong with it. I think once I get the new decals I'll be done spending. Here's a list of some of the things I've done so far-
1. Cleaned, blasted and painted everything
2. New bearings and seals everywhere
3. Rebuilt the rear differential
4. Replaced the front forks and rebuilt them too
5. Bought all new fenders (Maier of course)
6. New air filter & oil filter, grips, fork boots, brakes. etc.......
7. Rebuilt the carb
8. New set of NOS tires
9. Replaced the headlight
10.Replaced the fuel tank
I know it doesn't sound like a lot to some of you and it's not a 250r, TriZ or Tecate but it is going to be almost like a new one when I'm done and be a real dependable bike for many years again to top it all off.
Looks really nice so far, Basket is going to wish he had that one back.Nice trike.
