So I let the screw go today just to check the oil and now the damn thing won't go back in tight!!
Suggestions? Teflon tape maybe?

Is it the case or the screw that stripped?

Can you tell if it is the screw or the threads in the case? If it is the screw i would just replace it. If it is in the case then you can tap it out to the next size. Of course if you do this then you will get metal shaving inside the motor. Flushing it repeadly will probly get them out but that is a decision you will need to make. You can always remove the side cover and tap it but that is alot of work.
Teflon tape should work. It doesnt have any pressure on it, but i will still call it a temp fix.
Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Looks like it's the case that is stripped. *groan*
I'll probably try some teflon tape for a temp fix. Have it tapped out later. LOL, I think my luck is quickly slipping here. What looked like an 80 dollar 'go fast fun trike' is starting to look likie a 'high dollar restore and replace everything trike'
ROFL!
hahaha, that must be contagious. That is exactly what happens with every trike i get.......... Damn, got a flat. Might as well tear her completly down and fix everything.

The poor thing is 26 years old, give her a break LOL. I would teflon tape it also until you can find a permanent fix. If teflon won't work you could use RTV.

yea if the crank seals go the motor will eat the oil, it usually smokes pretty bad when that happens though.
let me correct that. if the crank seal goes on the waterpump side you will suck in oil, if it goes on the stator side you will suck in air.
correction correction, lol. being that you have an air cooled the crank oil seal should be on the foot brake side, don take this completely to heart though i am basing this off of liquid 250s, but is more than likely the same, my head hurts, someone get me a beer, lol

I think I'm gunna JBWeld the thing. I've got a feeling teflon tape won't hold it very well? And to try and tap a bigger hole is gunna be a huge pain in the butt.
Groan. Not a fun day.
shouldnt be that hard to tap, just take off the side case and do it. the side case does come off doesnt it? i know next to jack about the air foolers. maybe theres a tap that allows you to chase the threads without getting shavings on the inside, i think they make something like that for spark plug holes, dont know about something that small though.

Just pack the tap with grease that will hold the shavings as you tap the hole bigger. Your making things harder than they should be, thus bringing problems to yourself. Tap that baby out and get the proper bolt and it will be fixed. You spent all this time and energy trying to half ass the problem when it could be fixed, and done right.

If you tap it bigger, pack your tap with grease. The grease will help collect any shavings and keep them out of the case. Another option is Permatex Thread Repair. Should be able to get at any auto parts store. Works pretty good if you follow instructions.
Either way good luck with your repair,
