Which ATv for my 8 yr old son to race

My son is almost 8 years old..and has been riding the Tri zinger 60 and 90 ATV 6 months now.. HE is starting to ride pretty good and I am ready to start teaching him how to race a little but clueless on what atv to get him. ... I am looking to buy an ATV that he can race... Please let me know what you have or any suggestions you may have. New or used at this point may work..

    Thanks
    Chris

Did you check out the bombardier ds90x? I heard they were a little bit slow, but they come with piggyback shocks, race tires, and a host of other features, plus theres quite a few hop up parts for them on the internet. 8 is a little young for a blaster but if hes a big kid that woudlnt be a terrible choice depending on his skills, however he woudlnt be able to race it at age 8 i doubt.

The blaster is a bit large for him and he will not be able to race a 200cc atv.. MOst likely would have to be a 50-90 cc.. I have heard the DDR 90 or 50 is pretty good as well.. Its front is 40 in wide.

I was looking at them just now on the Honda website... There are so many bikes out there now it hard to narrow it down..

The local deall has a NEW 2008 Yamaha Predator 90 for $2000... My limit for right now is about $2000 maybe willing to go to 2500 for right now so it would be perfect o find alittle old race ATV I can fix with him.. You dont see many race youth ATV's up for sale around here. I was thinking of going with a DRR 70 because of few peopel that race with them..

If I go up to a 2 stroke it will be for a DRR race prepped bike.. WIll cost me about 3000 but the suzuki or no other stock bike is gonna touch it on the track... I just prefer 4 stroke.. Around my house my son is confined to how fast he can go.. The 4 stroke 90 he has right has enough power and speed but lacks any real suspension.

my son raced a lt80 for 2 season and they can be built to hang with the best of them. but will cost $$$. If you wanted to stay with a 4 stroke look at the extreme bikes. They look killer have way better suspension than the lt80 and all the trick pit bike engines mods will work on them. They have a 90cc model and a 125c model. Just remember if you are wanting to race it is gonna cost $$$ right up front to have a decent, safe bike. Good luck and remember to post some pics up once he's ridin, Chris

I saw a 90 not that long ago with a built engine and aftermarket 300ex a-arms and such on ebay.

    Looked quite capable.

personaly dont put him on anything automatic, thats the most worthless thing in my OP, my daughter started on a eton viper 40 when she was 3 1/2 at 5 I got her a trx 70 now shes almost 9, she knows how to shift well and make full use of the gear box.... but Im at a delima as well I want to upgrade her for her 9th birthday... and it seems all the options are automatics.... Im looking at the extreme 125 as well, it seems one of the best out there right now.. but she will outgrow that in about 2 years! So im thinking some sort of 250 machine (trx, suzuki) shes allready tall enough to be on one and reach the controles fine.. so I may get on of those and detune it a bit for her.... shop around, but please dont stick your kid on a auto.

WOW that is perfect for what I need for now..

Im guessing i should stick with a 70 or 90 though due to my sons age for racing.. I think he is suppossed to be limited to a 70 cc.. Anyone know the exact rules on that.

Now to find the best price one.

You get what you pay for, im still leaning for the bombardier ds 90x package, its automatic but theres quite a few hop up parts once your son gets better and wants something faster, dont go with a $950 typhoon, there Chinese arnt they?
