1983 honda 110 speed modification help

i got me a 1983 Honda 110 i want it to go faster than it does now i know thats not what it's for but anyway i was thinking about a 2" exhaust out the back 1" header from motor im gonna put 18-8x8 jr. dragster slicks so it'll git up and go but not for big end speed it's for drag racing when our track has pit bike races and i want to show some of them 4 wheeler guys that im jus as good so any help that doesn't require takin the motor off would be greatly appreciated

the pit bike races only race 330' so i got that far to impress them guys

probably put a bigger cam in it, you can get'em from webcams, see if maybe a 125m 3 wheeler has a bigger carb if it does u need to find one, or possibly look for a whole 125m engine almost the same as your's but it has more stroke which translates in torque and that's what a 110 needs, the 125 engine will bolt right in too. adjust your valves and clutch, maybe a new air filter(depening on what your's looks like) exhuast will help but on a stock or almost stock engine your gain will be minimal, i just found that out with my stock 250sx i put a pipe on. the problem with the 90, 110, 125 is that they dont make enough power to use all th gears in high range, that's why it has low range on it as well, my advice either sell your 110 and get a 185/200 or keep your 110 and buy a 185/200 they are plentiful and have plenty of power to pull around big guys like me 6 foot 210lbs.

Well, you want performance help, but you don't want to tear down the engine. You have really limited what you can do. You can run a bigger carb, but you need to find one of the older aftermarket intakes. You can run a better exhaust. You can install a cam without taking apart the whole engine. You will want to change tires and possibly change gearing. You can find a larger bore piston, but you have to at least pull the head and cylinder for that. Your frame is another limiting factor. The 110 frames are kind of short and the stock axles are narrow and this helps make the trike a little unstable. You probably want to go smaller than an 18" diameter tire though. I would think of finding wider tires too. Look into 7" racing slicks from go kart. I believe if you use the european bolt pattern, that is 3x100 if I remember right, you can use the earlier honda 110 hubs since they are a 3x100 bolt pattern. You will want to remove any unwanted weight you can. I would get rid of the chain guards and the outer cover for the rear brake at least and look into aluminum rims. Heck, you might even want to run an old set of fenders so you can cut the parts off over the rear tires. Go ahead and remove your front fender too. There are other things you can do, but that will require you to change frames and use different engine cases. And if you're changing cases, you might as well go a big bore stroker and then do some head work. There is alot you can do. I have a big bore stroker engine with a radical cam and a large regular carb and a carb set up for alcohol. That engine displaces around 183cc's or so. Also the frame is made up of aluminum sheeting. I have another frame that is chromoly. So there are options if you want to get serious. Also with the other engine cases, you will gain a clutch and kick starter and lose the hi/lo gearbox. yeah your not going to get much out of it till you open the motor up and spend some money on it.

i run a megacycle cam with HD valve springs and titanium retainers in my 110 head, then i had the head ported pretty hard.

i also made a high comp piston since you cant find them anymore and threw on a cobra pipe and a 200x carb.....its 24mm and i had to jet it up for the little motor...lol

as far as chassie im useing the stock frame but i added a 200x axle and disc brakes on it, and i run 18x9.5x8 1/2 tread turf tamers......1/2 tread is the way to go for the little bikes and guys will give them to you.

i have a 125m but i dont want t mess it up i took me 3 years to get it runnin again it was sittin outside for 21 years and it only took that long because im still in hs and i was in 7th grade when i got it out and ready i had to buy a brand new carb for it so im not taking it off for my 110
i dont want to mess it up at all but thanks for the tips
i might try the cam and them tires can it be modified to run on 122 octane race gas i got a few gallons of it but i dont want to kill myself testing before i know what will happen

I take it you are not listening too well. You don't want to take the engine apart and you don't want to change the carb. You should just leave it alone and ride it. Don't mess with the race gas unless you really want to mess your trike up. Just ride it and have fun with it.

unless you have about what? $700+ burnign a hole in your pocket, just ride it as stated. that's what it would cost in just parts to get it up to sniff and machining work, that's not tear down and replacement either. how do I know, that's what I paid for my 200e top end and that's just parts and not a super hot piston or stainless steel valves and titanium retainers+ other parts including new larger carb, new intake and exhaust woudl be needed if you wanted more. dude all i can say is the list goes on for ever and the party NEVER ends!!!!! YEEHAW!!!

bout the carb i have an extra 125 carb i got the new one because the other wouldnt idle no matter what i did it just didnt want to idle at all so i might be able to live wit no idle

Nobody was mad about you asking the question. What is annoying though is when a couple people told you what you could do, you answered by saying you weren't going to do this or you weren't going to do that. So don't try and back peddle on what you said, because it is clearly stated by you in the above posts. People on here, myself included are happy to try and answer questions or even to help you locate parts or even to help you do the work if you are close. But don't slap people in the face by saying that you don't want to do this or that and then ask the same question again that people just answered, it is very annoying. The majority of people on here are very nice and try to be helpful when possible and are very serious about this hobby. I know I personally didn't appreciate your answer after answering your question and you saying that you didn't want to do that kind of stuff to your trike and then asked again, what you could due to run race gas. You can run the race gas all day, but it won't help your trike stock and most likely it will hurt the trike. If you really want to make your trike run better. Just tune it up to run how it should. A new plug, an oil change, change your points and condenser if you have a points ignition system. Make sure your front and rear wheel bearings are in their most optimum shape. Make sure you valves are properly adjusted and your timing is properly set. Make sure you have no oil or exhaust leasks. Make sure your steering head bearings are all there and properly greased. And most of all make sure your brake is properly working. If you do all of that, I bet your trike will be faster than it is right now! Let alone doing any kind of performance upgrades. Once everything is working properly on your trike as it should and you make sure you have a helmet so your head is properly protected, then you might want to make performance upgrades. Normal maintenance items cost money, and if you are unable to pay for normal maintenance items, then you probably can't afford performance upgrades. Your cheapest performance upgrade would probably be to buy a larger trike. You can make 110s' faster, but it takes time and money. Will it be able to compete against a Honda 185 or 200, if those trikes are stock yes, if those trikes are mildly modded, no. If you really are interested in performance, then you should purchase a trike that is more performance oriented. For what it would take to really fix up a 110 and make a really hot screaming little trike, you could easily buy a 200x for. And you will get suspension, a 5 speed transmission and even a larger displacement engine, so really you are ahead from the start. If you have lots of wide open spaces to run wide open, you will be better off with a 250r 2 stroke. If you are talking trail riding or riding with a lot of tight turns and such, you would be better off with the 200x or if you had acces to some bigger money, a 350x. But a 350x is alot larger than a 200x and if you aren't very experienced on trikes, a 350x may be a bit much for you at first. 200x trikes are a great trike and also hondas biggest selling trike. That means used parts will be very plentiful which means cheaper. You can do some very inexpensive mods which will help the trikes performance quite a bit. So really the bottom line is, how big is your wallet? If your wallet is small, I wouldn't worry too much about modding anything. If you have up to $1000 or so to play with, you should probably be able to find a bargain 200x and do some fixing up on it and have some really nice fun for what you've spent. If you have a larger budget, than that opens up alot of higher performance possibilities trike wise and you have several nice trikes that you can choose from. If you only have a "Happy Meal Budget", then you will just want to stick with your stock 110 and try to perform the basic maintenance on it, and just try to make it run the best you can with what you have. Either way, have fun on your trike and wear a helmet.
