    Yamaha Tri-Zinger YT60 Question

    Hello all:

I am currently rebuilding a YT60 engine and was wondering if one of you could help me out with a bit of information.

The cylinder is going to be bored .50 mm over, and the machine shop that I deal with asked me to find out the piston-to-cylinder clearance, AND the "gage point" (the area that the measurement is taken) I am using an OEM Yamaha piston, not an aftermarket one.

Unfortunately, I do not have a manual for the tri-zinger, and don't want to spend $30+ just to find out the spec. I was hoping that someone here had a manual and could take a minute to look it up for me.

For what its worth, I have searched the internet and have found nothing, and my "local" dealer was, shall we say, less than helpful...

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance.

Ok, I tried to take a picture of the page so it can be posted. Maybe your shop guy can figure out the info he needs from the picture. If this won't work, I can try and find the info elsewhere in the manual. I hope this helps.

Okay, The shop manual lists 2 oversize pistons. 1st over is 44.25mm. 2nd over is 44.5mm. It says the piston clearance is .040-.048mm. The gage point for the piston is 5mm above the bottom edge of the piston. I hope this helps too.

Hi. I just recently bought a tri zinger 60. I replaced the coil, gas lines, and gas. I also cleaned the carb, but when its running it idles very high and the throttle screw doesn't seem to be doing anything. When i adjust the air/fuel mixture to a good idle speed i try to push the throttle and give it gas it seems to basicly choke out and cut off. the only the way to get it to not do that when i give it gas is to let it idle very high. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also what type of oil goes into the gearbox on the side of the engine and how do i drain it. Thanks

No trikes. Too old, too crippled. Unless I find one I can't live without!

I was thinking the same thing.

    Here is the oil info.

To check for an air leak: spray wd40 around the intake and carb side of the intake. If you have an air leak the engine will rev higher.
