    Honda RoadFox (Gyro)

    This is what I have gathered from various sites/people and my own bugging of Honda.

    The Honda Gyro S (RoadFox) was made in 1985 and 1986, they are street legal moped with a high speed of 35mph. The back end will stay on the pavement, while the rest turns with your body. There have been about 4 versions I think. They never did well here in the US, but in Japan they are a cult thing, some are used for racing and others have made made into 5 wheeled monsters. This is what they looked like (Japanese Ad)

    I found mine when picking up my TV, it was at a garage sale and the guy had it outside, he worked for Honda and it was in pristine condition... didnt want to sell it. Well fast forward 5 years and it was outside again, by the dumpsters. I asked him how much and he told me to take it. I found out that his kid had taken it apart and used parts for a go kart... yeah... well the kid took the gas tank, keyed ignition, most of the plastic from around the seat (broke those when taking the gas tank off), front tire was banged up from him trying to get it off... i mean it was literally bent to ****. And it was in parts. So I gathered up all that was there, took it home and started to put it back together. This is what I ended up with;

    Im missing everything from around the seat, except for the seat. The rest can be obtained by other Honda mopeds. Well I called my lovely rep Jen at Service Honda and she hooked me up with some parts that I was told were Disco. The gas tank and plastic from below the seat are on its way and also the plastic from around the ignition. She gave me a great deal on the parts too... 50.00 w/shipping. Also found me the rear blinkers and mirrors from a Aero moped are the same. I will still need the Horn cover and seat bag for above the seat.

    Anyways, after replacing the fuel lines, cleaning the carb, making a nice gatorade gas tank and some new oil, the engine fired up and purred. i am amazed on the quietness of the machine. Compression came in at 123psi, should be 130-135, but this is enough to run. I had to clean out the reeds as years of oil buildup had one stuck. The plastics I have started to clean and buff, and the ones that are cracked I welded and will refinish the best I can. I'll update this when I get parts from Honda.

    The honda gyro canopy model can hit 60mph, so i can see that. Mine hits only 35, and thats with some port work. Im going to bore the cylinder and try to get up to 45mph...hehe
