I don't know what pipe that is but I want it. If you decide you don't like the power delivery once you spend some time with it let me know. I have different pipes available. Might be able to work out a trade or something. Edit: looks like a Selvys. Those things are coming out of the woodwork all of a sudden.

Looks like the tank was painted? Scrape that crap off and restore it.

Looks like an exceptionally clean trike though. Great score.

86 FTW!!! Had both years, personally prefer the look of the 86. But that looks like a great start, I wish my 86 woulda been that clean when I got it. Im starting all over from the ground up, frame is at the sand blaster right now

purposely did not say anything about the pipe. The guy I bought it off of claimed to be an old racer. By the looks of his garage, I would believe it. Plus the bike was in Yorba Linda, John Force's home town. Lots of racers out there. He mentioned the pipe was a custom made pipe for the bike specifically. He said the name, but could not remember. But I agree, the tank appears to either have been replaced at one point, or the opposite, all the plastics except the tank where replaced. Over all, can't wait to get into it. Couldn't tell you about the power band until I get it in the dunes, where I could really play with it. Planning on a trip soon.
But I loved the pipes fabrication. All the pieces where installed in I guess you would call a linear fashion, horizontal to the pipe. If that makes sense.
Next weekend I will take more dtailed pic's if you guys would like.
Overall, I am estatic. Felt it was a decent price too. $1500
the guy even had the original "pink slip" that is actually pink!
plus he threw in a set of paddles

Nice score Autodoctor. $1500 isn't bad at all for such a nice base to build on.

The 86 stock fork springs are NOT progressive, merely single piece vs. the two piece setup in the 85s. I am running aftermarket progressives in my 86 and the two look NOTHING alike.

juste une ti-blague, cause they'd be pretty rare in the states

I recall it was released in Canada only in 87 - I remember drooling over the brochure and that they used white fenders but other than that it was pretty much an '86. The magazines at the time were jealous, and I think 3wheeling had an article on it...

Hmm, didn't see this post back in Oct. Well allow me to retort. The 86 springs ARE in fact progressively wound verses a straight wound main spring in the 85 with a smaller spring with a different rate so the forks act progressively. I also have a set of Progressive Suspension fork springs for my 86 and I know they don't look alike because they are far more progressive than the stock 86 springs. That doesn't mean that the 86 springs are "NOT" progressive though.
