    200s clutch adjustment

    Have a 200x auto (84 200s motor in it), previous owner removed/lost the lock nut and washer for the clutch adjuster. was turned all the way clockwise till and tight.

    when put in gear it engaged so hard it would wheelie EVERY time, so want to adjust it to spec. Went through the clymers and it says to turn COUNTER-clockwise until you feel slight resistance then back clockwise 1/4 turn. Is this correct? I turned it a couple revolutions and stopped for fear I would turn it out to far and hose something up, anybody know the quick and dirty way to adjust one of these?

    The manual is correct. I just had a 83 Big Red with the same problem. I tried to adjust it and found it wouldn't adjust correctly. I removed the side cover and found some idiot forgot to put the plate with the 3 ball on it back in. I found one in my stash of parts. I put everything back together and adjusted it and it was like NEW.
