    Big Red lift?

Probably been hashed over a thousand times, but I am not finding much in my searches.

I am figuring that I could very easily raise the rear suspension on my Big Red by 1 to 1-1/2 or more. I am always getting hung up and stuck because I bottom out.

What are the cons to doing this? Driveshaft angle? Stability (considering a higher center of gravity and less rake on the front forks)?

If it has been tried could you point me to a thread or webpage with details?

You can raise the suspension all you want but untill you put larger tires on it you won't get any higher off of the ground.

if you faise the suspensin the pinnion yoke/ u joint will bind in the housing already tried it best thign to do is get 12 inch rims off a foreman or rancher and go to 27 inch tires alot of choices and will give you 2 inches or so clearance gained.

Yeah the best and only way to "lift" a big red is to put larger tires on it. With the size wheel, you are limited to the size. I put some nice 12" wheels from dennis kirk and put some 26x12x12 on and probably could have put 27's. You could also put some wheel spacers on it to move the tires farther out but still dont think you can go stupid huge.

Here is my 87 big red with the 26" tires

If you wanna have a gearbox left...I wouldn't go over 24 pounds of tire... your average 300 honda can turn a set of light 27s with ease....the lighter the tire, the better off you'll be.

Thanks for the pics. Would there be any hope of fitting that 26x12x12 on the front if you got the right offset wheel? Would you mind measureing the actual mounted height and width of the tire on the rim? What width rim are you using?

I wish I had gone with 12" rims now, but just bought new 25x1350-12 Vampires, so I'm stuck with them for awhile. I do have spacers coming for the back.
