    '74 ATC 70 ,My new ride !!

I picked up this nice gem the other day in a local find.I went to orginally go look at a Big Red,which was in reality a ATC 125M ,and I see the '74 ATC 70 tank on another machine. So I ask's him ,"Hey where's the machine that ,the tank came off of ",pointing at the '74 ATC 70 tank, and he say's down the street at his in-law's.Next thing ,we're loading my new '74 atc 70 & the mity "supposed Big Red", which was the 125M in my truck.
The story goes that the 70 did'nt have any compession,so they took off the topend thinking it was a piston ring ,when it wasin reality a stuck valve, and they did'nt know how it went back together.Amazingly the '74 is in really good shape, other than the motor issue .All the plastic's look orginal and you can see where the decal's recently started peeling.Footpeg's ,guard's,seat pan ,muffler ,tank, all in good shape .
So this make's a nice addition to my ATC 70's, I'm gonna keep this one as my new camp ride ,for all the future gathering's I think, and it is for sure gonna be making Trikefest this coming year. Not as a basement racer either I gotta go thru it better but I'd like too keep it orginal, just spruce it up a bit.

That is just like the one I started 1upfront out on when he was 5 years old. I wouldn't mind having something like that. They're a little small but they're tough as nails.

Nice snag bra! I got the same year the other day for a steal, but only downfall with mine is that it didnt come with a seat or pan. So I am going to have to rig up something with th enew model seats.
Oh and I now have like 5 atc 70's so be aware that they are addicting.

Oh I know that all to well myself with these 70's,I just did a count and I have 4 roller's,2 of which run ( a '73 and an '79) and I probably have enough in my stock too put probably 5 or 6 of them back together.IDK,I guess I should sell a couple of them instead of buying more, but then I'd regret selling them like I alway's do,lol.

Thanks John, Are pictures in the above post what it looks like. Can't wait to get over and get it. This will call for a 24 pack of "Old Milwaukee"

Good find! Looks about like mine except yours is actually nice. :-)

Worst thing about mine is that the seat is gone. i've got the pan, but no foam or cover.

What kind of "spruce up" are you thinking about doing? The thing looks fairly complete. Just maybe some new paint or something?

I guess I will paint the wheels, and the rear guard ,that's about it.The front fork's need replaced also.I'll probably just wheel the frame down with polish as well as the tank.I'll restore my '73 this winter ,and I think they'll make a nice pair together.

You might need to straighten that frame just a tad as your front fender will most likely hit the motor.......the typical atc 70 problem. Just take a block of wood and place it where the air box is (removing it), then put a bottle jack from it to the neck. Then as you have it super tight, jack alittle and tape the top of the tube with a . Just keep doing that until it looks pretty straight.
