    My new Fat Cat

    Hi all,
new to the forum and thought I'd ask a few questions. I just purchased a sweet Tr200 AKA the Fat Cat. I have been able to find brand new OEM fenders here in Canada honda Canada still sells them

My question is what tires are you guy's running on the Fat Cat? Mine are original and should be changed but can't find the tires in 24.5x8-11 and 23.5x8-11. They where Dunlop's back in the day. I live in Northern Ontario and run mostly trail with mud rocks and snow.

    She runs great,
    Perry

just run something close...I usually go to the dealer and cross reference with whats new out of their catalog. Sometimes I order from them and sometimes I shop it out.

    Talking

Thanks for the input. I went with the Carlisle 489 in 23x8-11 I will have it mounted on Monday

Any know how to turn up the idle on the bike. She will not idle very well and sputters when running. I suspect the gas is old and the carb might be gummed up. I will drain the tank fill with fresh fuel and add some carb cleaner to the gas and take here out for a good ride.

My Honda repair manual is on the way but I'm not sure what needle to turn for the idle

Look forward to my first ride on Saturday. I will take pics,

There should be a screw with a spring behind it, most likely on the right hand side if it's like other Honda 200 carbs. Turn it to the right to turn the idle up.

Nice Fatcat ...I just got one on Monday, and haven't even seen it yet as my brother picked it up for me, so I go get it on Saturday...I will be needing fenders for it, and saw where you mentioned that you got new OEM ones...does that dealer have any more, and how much were they? I am in the US, but my dealers here tell me that they can't get them any longer. I also need a new set of bars as the originals have been broken and welded back together.

    Thanks and enjoy the Fatcat

Hi i did a restro on my fatcat last year.....you can still get the front and rear fenders from honda... headlight and side covers are a different matter.....
Also the tires... i found this Maxxis tire which is 23x8-11 http://specialtytiresstore.com/all_track_atv_tires.htm which is the closest size you can find for the back....the front you can still get from honda...

Holly *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* Pete! Now that is over the top. How hard was it to tear the bike down to the frame?? Did you put everything in labeled boxes and start from front to back.

I'm no mechanic but can build RC Helicopters from scratch in two day's I have the Honda repair manual coming in on Tuesday.

This looks like a fun winter project,

So, "Petesact" and "Canucksfatcat", what do I need to check for or ask when calling Honda about the fenders? I checked with the Honda dealers here in Kansas City, MO/KS, USA and they tell me that they can't get them any longer. So I guess from your messages, they are available, but I just don't seem to be calling the right places I guess. If you know of a dealer that can get them, can you send me their name/number and location? I will call them if my local ones won't help me out.

What are the specs on the handlebars...I assume they are 7/8" bars, what is the rise on them and how far back is the bend on them? I probably will just look to put on some aftermarket dirtbike or atv bars as opposed to trying to find an original set, unless I can locate originals one of these days.

So, Pete, how did it take you to do the full restore on it? I am going to do the same, but may not go back 100% original...may even do an all black version wth the yellow/orange stickers and some custom paint/airbrushing. Maybe some Tiger stripes to match my 2006 Triumph Tiger!

BTW...what size is the front and rear tire supposed to be anyway? I don't have a manual or anything, and don't know if the ones on the bike now are the right/original size anyway.

    Thanks,
    Jason

    Smile

    23.5x8-11 rear
    24.5x8-11 front

Those are the correct tire size. I purchased my Fenders in Canada. Not sure If that makes a difference. You can contact RL Equipment in Verner Ontario and talk to Bob in parts to get part numbers.

    Hope that helps,
    P

    Hey Perry,

it was pretty easy to do the restro easier than a atc restro...buy yourself a workshop manual and get going....
only problem.... parts are getting thin on the ground you need to search high and low for some of them...

There is usually a guy on ebay that selld NOS fenders. That is where I got mine from 2 years ago for my restoration. Fork boots are hard to come by becasue they are really small (like a CR 80). And by the way, check the tank for rust inside, they are known for that. I used redkote on mine and it worked great. Good Luck

Replaced rear brakes as the originals where glazed
    Shorty brake levers
    Fox Racing blue crossbar pad
    New tail light
    Replaced original chain,sprockets
    Replaced air filter
    Replaced Plug
    Fresh oil change
new front tire on order and front bearings
ordered a Gasket kit for the carb. Hope that helps!?
Honda repair manual on the way

I'm looking for a rear Rack but having trouble tracking one down. Fun bike to ride here in Northern Ontario.
