I found out why they discontinued the HONDA TRX250R!!!!

My god I have pondered this question for years and finally yesterday a vision came to me and read aloud to me "they discontinued it because they knew it would be at least 10 years before anyone could even come close to it's joint tearing, bone jarring, teeth grinding sheer acceleration and gobs of useable power" LOL!!

Well, it's the best I can think of anyway. Can I have one now, please?

I'll take a stock 89 with low miles thank you.

I dunno about you man, but I think stock 250r's are pretty tame. Mine runs good and strong, but its not quite what you described...maybe cause I'm just used to open class bikes...

I'm just teasin! Thats always been my favorite quad since one of my friends got one for graduation back in 89 - he refuses to part with it. I just remember that it had great power and handling and that I'd be so happy to own a nice one someday. All around I just think they had a fantastic design they chose to discontinue :? Besides that, it sure fit me alot better than the Blaster.

hey dirt crasher, i am not sure if i remember this right, but in one of my dirtwheels issues, i think Honda is putting a CR250 engine on the 400ex chassis, and will be selling it for like $4500, but like i said i am not sure if that is completely accurate or not, if i could find tha magazine i would let tell you more.

Coty that is the Service Honda trx250r...they not only make this, but they still will sell you a new cr500 dirtbike based on the cr250 aluminum frame as well. Cool stuff if you've got deep pockets. Read about them here

I passed up a decent 87 for under $2,000. Or atleast I thought about it too long and it was sold. I highly regret my error.

I LOVE the 1988-1989 TRX250R's....I would die for one (but then I wouldn't be able to ride it )

To me, They were the best ATV EVER made in history

I agree the 250r was a sweet quad, although i've never ridden one. It looks like it might be taking a back seat to the new yamie 450 though. :?

WOW, those things are sweet. Wonder whats better an 89 hopped up or a SH 2004 - I bet Service is right on.

I'll bet there a tad more than 4500$ though, probably like 7000$.

When the service honda bikes first came out, the price that was floating around was right around 8. Don't know if that's gone up or down. It would be pretty hard to beat the motor in the service honda one, since it's as far as I know a new model cr250 motor. Obviously it has power valves, and other refinements and puts out a ton more hp than the old school motors did. Whether or not the 400ex chassis weighs about the same as the 250r one I don't know.

I would think that the chassis weigh close to the same weight. The EX chassis was based on the R's.
