Stator? I replaced mine when it had an orange spark and it fixed the problem.

How do you know it's not the coil...usually the first thing to go, or the cdi?

i took a good coil off another 85 big red that runs and still no spark. its got a new plug. Last night it had spark for a min then quit agian. now i cant get spark at all ?

I also had a wire that was a ground to the motor on the left side by the pull starter, that had come off and that caused no spark might want to check all wires too. Just a quick thought of my issues I have had.

Check your kill switch and make sure it's working properly. If it's corroded or full of mud, it could be malfunctioning.

I had a kill switch wire that was pinched in side the switch that finally wore through. Open it and take a look at the wires.

Yes i also tried the cdi box still no spark...i will look into the kill switch tomorrow

So i tried the plug the coil the cdi box nothen checked all the wires checked all the fuses took the kill switch off everything is good..still no spark!! what am i missing besides the stator which i want to be the last thing i try???

Not much left to check after that, more than likely it's grounding out somewhere in the harness...break out the voltmeter!

Get a manual and a voltmeter. You can unhook your kill switch so you know it isn't the problem. Check for continuity out of the stator to the engine. Usually that means its good. Clean all your connections and look for any bare wires. Good luck! 100 POSTS!

have you checked your pickup coil? it sends the signal to the cdi box the cdi box sends it to the coil the coil sends it to the spark plug all the kill switch does is ground it just unplug the ground and that elimnates the kill switch
