about half of mine have them, all the old non-rebuilt(ever) ones don't. I don't use the brakes enough for it to be an issue.
I think they are a composite material that is meant to be a buffer between the piston and the pad...
Many of them are missing, broken or gone altogether. I'm no engineer and I can't say what there real purpose was, but I'll assume that they were necessary in someones eyes.
But, brakes seem to work just fine without them and I don't feel or hear any squeeling, wear patterns or strange noises without them....
Anyone have a definitive information??

All our government does is distract us while they steal from us, misspend our tax $ and ruin our country
I dont have them on any of my stuff either and I didn't notice any issues. I would say that they were there to help keep the pad from sticking to the pistons from rust, but the pistons are already coated in like a plastic of some type so theres no metal to metal contact. Beats me.
cool, thanks for the reply's
