250R clutch issues: Funky noises when engaging clutch

Since I bought the bike 3 years ago it makes a funky 'creaking' noise when the clutch lever is let out just about to the point of engagement. It actually makes letting the clutch lever out in 1st gear a little tricky.

1upfront rode the bike down the drag strip at trikefest 08 and might have some contribution about whats wrong with the clutch. Im pretty much lost

I dont like the noise and need to remedy it. I have the clutch cover off right now and am about to pull the disks and basket out to take a look at what might be the issue.

I need to get this straightened out fast for the Glamis trip that is quickly comin up. the bike is an 83 sprock big bore 300 but Im selling the cylinder so I can use a honda line 300 cylinder/head since Im sick of trying to deal with the 3 helicoiled studs on this cylinder

on that note, if anyone wants to buy a 300cc cylinder and head let me know. I can include the wiseco piston which has 20 minutes of ride time on it this is the same engine I had at trikefest, but it has been bored over since then due to me burning the rings up on the last piston.

I remember the noise but am not sure whats causing it have you checked for debris in your tranny oil? Also have you pulled the clutch cover and opened up the clutch to check for anything unusual? let me know and we can narrow this problem down.

Alright man let me know if you see anything odd. Also inspect the throwout rod and ball while it's apart. While your throwout rod is out pull that little screw below your clutch arm on the opposite side of the motor and pull the arm up out and inspect the cam on it.

the ball is in good shape! the clutch basket has some groves in it though but they arent that bad. I have seen some tri-z baskets that looked worse lol the clutch cable should be fine

Is there any damage to the rod or clutch arm cam? If these are fine I would check and see if your clutch steels and friction disks are in spec and have no warpage and replace if warped or worn.
