    My first ATC!

She's an '84 250R that seems to be pretty ordinary. Other than a set of purple bars and a twist throttle , it looks like any other 84 model. I like it a lot though!

Now some questions for the three wheeler experts. The previous owner tried changing the axle bearings and did a little damage
*Disclaimer* Do not view the next picture if you are squeamish!

Yes, that's a destroyed sprocket hub and a very mangled carrier. Will any other axle fit a 1984 ATC250R? I'm guessing any '81-'84 axle from the same bike will work, but what about from the other early Honda trikes? Also, if I'm lucky enough to find just a sprocket hub, are those interchangable with other models or years?

I hate to say it, but I'm looking forward to riding the thing so much that I'll probably end up over spending on Ebay, looking for one quick. Thanks for any help or info!!

I'm guessing the axle is ok. That aluminum piece looks like what use to be the bearing carrier. Don't you just love the "backyard" mechanics. Good luck on your fix, you definately have a nice starting point.

I Guarantee you, when you do ride it, you'll like it a lot more...they have some wild power. Whats so bad about a twist?

You can try to do a thread search, I"m sure this has been gone over. If you can't find anything, just ask again. And aboard.

I hear ya! I can't wait to crack the throttle open a little.

I'm going to go look at an '87 200X parts bike this week. I"m hoping I can press the sprocket hub off it's axle and use it on mine. I'm thinking they're both 42 tooth rear sprockets, so I might end up in luck.

Oh, oh ....... thats how it all starts.... you get your first trike and next thing you know you're looking at parts bikes that end up being "project bikes" that lead to more parts bike...

This one's my first ATC. The only other 3 wheeler I've owned was a Yamaha DX225 that tried to kill me.

As for the motor, I only know what I was told about it. It is supposed to be fresh, but every 2 stroke I've ever bought was "just freshened up". I didn't do a compression test, but it fires quickly even in the 40* weather. I kicked over my buddy's '86R and it actually seemed like the 84 was harder to kick over.
