    85 200X fork swap

What forks and triple tree if any will swap onto my 85 200X? Was not sure if a 350X or 250R would swap out. Mine are trashed and i am just looking at all my options!
    thanks tim

250R triples won't work. The stops are wrong. 350X triples don't have any rake built into them. Keep your triples. Just have them bored to 35mm to fit '83-'84 250r or they'll go bigger to go '85 250r. To get them bored would be $35 to $50.

    Fork and tripple swap !!

    [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

Actually there is a easy way to get around the issue of the stop's.Here's a few pic's of a custom 1985 200X I built for a fella in Pittsburg ,take notice of the neck. The orginal set-up (red frame) ,has the stop's that will only accept the 200X tripple, but I cut that off and fabricated new stop's,which you can see in the pic's with the blue frame. At the point to where I welded on the stop's,I could have easily put the stop's in place to accept a set-up from a 350X or a 250r liquid or air.

Actually i had started off the build with the intent of using the 350X tripple's and front suspension but opted to go with the stock set-up anyway's,but i could have done either. Now I'm sure your asking the question why did I go thru the trouble of cutting off the stop'and just putting on the orginal set-up anyway?

Easy answer.. This was actually an old-school race set-up ,from back in the 80's.To increase the sharpness of the turning radius, alot of machine's were set-up this way,you could make it so you could turn alot sharper ,obviously for getting to the inside when racing, and that's why -if you see old race footage from back then either the tank's were dented way back in ,and alot of guy's did'nt use the air scoop's.I guess a good referance would be the pic of the powerrol 200X pic's that have been floating around recently. If you obsereve the pic ,you will notice that it does'nt have scoop's.

well I built a roller a few year's ago with a 350X rear and a 350X front end, mocked to an '85 200X frame, and I believe that was it.I think that the ball baering's were different, meaning the 200X used the smaller ball's,and there was an issue with the bearing race. Can't honestly remember, that was a few year's ago,but I believe the stem's off the R and the x's were all the same.Do a search on here,I remember a member who,put the 350X suspension on a 200X frame. That would give ya more info.
