Some Dumba** painted all the plastics on the '84 Yamahauler I just got. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on removing it? I did a search on the forums but couldn't find anything. My daughter was scrubbing it with paint prewash and a rag, and she got alot off one side rear fender, but it took forever. Any help would be greatly be appreciated.

there is a type of paint remover made for bumpers, you will have to get it from a local paint store, its the most non abrasive meathod other then a heate pressure washer to remove the paint.

Well.... I recently purchased a complete set of banshee plastics that had been spry painted. I tried SEVERAL different methods, but the only thing that realy took the paint off was brake cleaner. I was worried about the brake cleaner drying out or dicoloring the plastic, so I worked in small sections. I would spray the brake cleaner on heavily, then wipe off the excess paint/cleaner with a brake cleaner soaked rag. Then i immediately wiped the area down with some generic vynal protectant. The plastics came very nice are are still shiny, no dulling or anything from the brake cleaner. thats the best i got...

Parmatex brand spray gasket remover. Comes in a blue can, and is availiable at autozone, advanced, napa, etc. Spray on and watch it bubble. Doesn't harm plastics at all, but will destroy decals in short order. The best method i've found.

I also used some brake fluid, let it soak in and it was working, but I was worried about damaging the plastics.

I use carb cleaner..... Spray on, wait like 3sec and wipe off. And its cheap.
Works on most spray paints,, there was one type of paint that it didnt work on though.
Plastics off a 225dx looked brand new after.

they sell vandalism removers in aresol cans but its hard to find, it works awsome though, large chem companies that supply comercial buildings with cleaning+ maintanance supplies usually have it.try searching "dynachem" dont know if there still in business. Ive heard walmart sells some kind of aircraft stripper that works but ive never tried it.

M E K works excellent it will dissolve almost any paint and won't harm your plastics. You can get it at any hardware store. Its also safe on rubber.

The paint stripper from the auto parts store is called "Tal-Strip". They make two varieties. Tal-Strip II is the aircraft variety. It has a warning on the can about using it for composites so I stayed away from using it on my plastics. The regular Tal-Strip worked awesome on my big Red plastics, though. Spray on, watch it bubble, spray off with the hose.
It didn't hurt the plastics at all.

Use oven cleaner the foaming type spray it on let it loosen the paint up and hose it off. works real good and wont hurt anything under it , i have used this trick alot try it Mike
