    1985 Quadracer resto pics

Heres the 85 and I'm having trouble locating some nice OEM wheels. Once I can find those, a new fuel petcock, the decals, and finish bolting on a couple of rear fender brackets, this one will be done as well. Give me some honest opinions, let me know what you think.

I have always loved the color scheme on those Zuki's, I for one never liked the black cowls though it throws off the scheme. Thats a really nice resto. You going for full on OEM on this one?

wow that is beautiful. Of all the 1980's performance atv's, three wheelers included, the quadracer is the most difficult machine to find in nice condition. You hardly ever see a nice, original one on ebay. almost never. You see atc250r's constantly....hardly ever a quadracer. It seems the decals peel and the plastic fades so even if a perticular machine is in good condition, the cosmetic aspect is usually a bit disappointing.

Your machine looks fantastic in its originality. That's what I love about . The pipe and carb are OK, they are cool add ons. The one problems I see is that your frame color is a tad light

how about some details, some before pics? what was replaced NOS what is aftermarket, etc?

I imagine the OEM wheels are tough to find, but they are a must have on a q-racer resto. it will not look right at all without the gold whels

the carb and pipe both look OEM to me?

the color blue seems right as well but in a few pics the camera lighened it up some. with age too i think the blue getts darker....maybe that in my mind...lol

You are right about the carb, maybe the pipe too. The front mounting bracket makes me think the pipe is aftermarket but I could be worng: I was wrong about the carb

Yes, I am definitely going for the full OEM deal. Your right, it is hard to find any nice useable parts, so your left only with the ones you can still buy from Suzuki, and suprisingly there is quite a bit still available. For this bike, I was able to get a new OEM swingarm, carb, airbox, carrier, sprockets, grab bar, plastic, A-arms, and all the nuts and bolts were still available. As far as the color goes, it was difficult to find an exact match to the Suzuki blue, but after 1 month trying diffrent colors combos, I have what I think is a blue that is so close that sitting side by side with one off a showroom floor, you cannot tell the diffrence. The camera along with the flourescent lighting makes it look lighter in the pics above, but I assure you, it is a very deep, bright blue just like factory. As far as the pipe goes I went through the trouble of coating two diffrent pipes before I found the one in the pics above, seems like alot of the remaining pipes people have are pitted and rusted heavily along the bottom flat portion where mud and dirt collect. If it was left like that and not cleaned after riding you could expect to see that kind of deterioration over a period of time. I got the pipe that you see ablove on Ebay for $60 and it was from an owner who changed the pipe to an aftermarket unit not long after the quad was bought, so it was in almost mint condition when he pulled it out of his garage. I got lucky with that one!! Overall, I am happy with the way its turning out, but to make it perfect, I need a new seat and Suzuki still has seats available, but the blue 85 seat part number was superceded to an 86 part number which is a black seat with white writing, which I just cant bring myself to use it! (although I have it sitting here in the box and can't return it) Anyone have a new OEM Suzuki blue seat laying around???

A black seat? There was never a quadracer that came with a black seat. The 86 seat did have large white lettering but it was otherwise the same as the 85. The only 1980's era suzuki sport quad that had a black seat is the 1985 230 Quadsport.

are the factory decals still available for this quad? I wonder, because they were not at all durable. I was 12 when I had my 86 quadracer back in the 80's and the decals were constantly chipping and blowing off

I would love to get a nice 85 or 86 quadracer....I look but it is so rare to find a good one. Once in a blue moon a decent one pops up in arizona or socal

That is what I remeber as well, just a letter color change! I don't know why they are coming black now. This is definitely a black seat with white writing and I dont believe the quadsport and racer seats were interchangable (I could be wrong on this) and I know this seat fits the racer because I did test fit it just to see what it looked like. The decals for the 85 have once again been moved to the 86 part number, so even if you order the 85 decals, you will get the 86's. I am in the process of having the proper 85 decal made, but it just takes a while to get it exactly right.

Thats looking great, I would like to build one of those one day as well. I have an NOS blue seat with white letters. I wonder if thats something the mosh's can change to the yellow. Let me know how you make out with the 85 decals..... I would like a set.

Other smaller or lesser known companies, such as Tiger ATV, Franks, and Cagiva, produced racing three wheelers, but in much smaller numbers. Few of these machines are known to exist today and are highly sought by collectors.
