My 82R is completely torn down in my garage at this point. It's stock other that power reeds. Are there any performance or general upgrades you can think of that I might incorporate into this build? I need some Ideas.

It's a celebration bitches!!!
Pipe, raise compression, bigger carb, porting, re-gear, the list goes on forever.
Three Air R's
reed spacer, boost bottle, look for the infamous Mugen 360 kit or a 300r kit. Don't forget suspension - new modern rear shock, 300ex hubs for a wider stance, maybe do the 200x front end conversion to run a taller, narrow front tire.

Get an aftermarket pipe of some sort - those stockers choke the power back big time. Even with a stock carb - once you swap pipes - HUGE difference.
RIP - Yamahondaman!! You will never be forgotten!
RIP - Sam Brehm!! Gone but NEVER forgotten!
RIP - Sandpuppi101 - You will live on in my mind - I miss you friend!
Porting and polishing the cylinder will get some noticable gains. Pipe should help too if they are not too hard to find. I don't know about the older R's.
Many quads for sale. 400EXs, Z400, 450s ect.
Well about all I can tell ya is to check out my 81 resto post, I've done quite a few of all upgrades available for the 1st gen R's, it should be on page 2 of this forum. One thing I would keep an eye out for is a boost bottle, many believe they only work on twins, but yamaha used them factory on alot of their older bikes. As long as you have the correct volume of bottle and its setup right it's definately noticeable. It helps reduce pulsing in the carb to keep a steady flow and gives you a boost of fuel/air right off the bottom and even aids in over-rev. If you like the throttle response of 2-strokes stock you should throw on a flat slide carb and a boost bottle( way better!) The reason I mention this is they're usually cheap if you can find them and they are simple to install just google boost bottle and check out some of the sites on how they work.

Yeah both of my Yamaha IT's have boost bottles. It is a proven technology that works good if set up right.
Three Air R's
Start with a engine that has at least 150 psi. Then do your mods.
3 CR500R's and counting. Do I really need 4???
Do I really need 9 Tigers?
Laegers ATC500R
DO NOT send any thing to whats his face (dirt-face/crasher) here on the board. What a scum bag. He screwed (stole) money from me and screwed me on my ME360 and Hondaline 300R engine rebuilds.
Funny you say that. I just finished my 82 and it had 150 psi. My 1985 tecate had 210. Will a 85-86 atc 250r carb bolt on with no serious rejetting?
