350X engine performance / reliablity upgrades

I have heard that there is a needle bearing cam upgrade that can be done on these. Who makes them? and what machine work needs to be done for it to work?

I am taking my engine apart to replace a cracked case, and I figured I'll freshen everything up while I have it torn down. Any input will be a huge help. Thanks.

megacycle cam makes the needle bearing cam and they offer one that drops right in and a over size one, that one needs machineing to fit.

350X engine performance / reliablity upgrades

try poweroll they offer quite a good selection of performance parts for the 350x,
i think they make a 430 kit for them, also try www.denniskirk.com they have exhuast, pistons, filters, and suspension and brake upgrades.

well, i dont know what your doing but if you go with a cam that takes the HD valve springs you'll also need to get your rockers hardened....they do that as well.

dont forget to open up your oil pump and look inside for grooves and deep scratchs.....just about every one i open up is junk...or not worth it to me to put in a ''new'' motor.

honda dont make a 350x pump any more but a 300ex pump works perfect if you use the 350x drive gear.

Also you can do what swigin did and run the 450r cooler for a much cooler engine.

I'm not a little guy, so I will stay with what retains / boosts bottom end. Thanks for the heads up on the hardening.

Killer advise on the oil pump as well. Thanks a bunch!

you have more bottom end than you could ever want...

pretty much no matter what carb/exhaust/cam you decide to throw in there. the only exception being the 42mm carb...a little too much.

im big myself and my 350x motor is in a quad so trust me when i say you wont have a problem with low end power.
im running a TC high rev cam and my 350 is about as gutless down low as a 350 gets (a lightened flywheel would make it thee gutless ever) but it does pretty well.

that being said i wont go high rev again.....try the full race cam if your porting the head, it will be anything but gutless (my all time favorite megacycle cam) add a 10.25 piston and a PE 38mm carburetor and have a ball for years.
