This doesn't help you at all but it is kinda related. Somewhere on the net I saw a liquid cooled motor in an 83/84 250R. I beleive there was one year of CR250 that was liquid cooled with the sprocket on the right side (same as air cooled 250R). Pretty neat.

you could flip the axle but your brake mounting points wont be right and its just not a feasable thing to do, plus there is no way either the 84 shock or the 85 shock would work on the 85 swinger in a 84 250r. unfortunatly the 2nd gen Rs have a tough swinger and rear suspension design to go around, were is my 85 250R has all 05 trx450R rear suspsion.

you may contact a company like HRE who could make you a new swinger for your air fooler, im sure there would be more interested at there are alot of 2nd gen riders here.

also putting in a liquid powerplant wont be that hard but now you got to figure out where raditators and othe rparts go, plus the intake on the liquid goes to the left a bit where is the intake on the air cooled is straight back to the airbox. One thing or another you will be better off having a air cooled motor in the air chassis and the liquid in the liquid chassis.

pm 1upfront, he drags a air cooled 250R when I had my 83 with a 300 big bore on it ,it was slightly faster then my piped and carbed 85 250R.

will going 90mph make you happy? then just regear it. Most air foolers top out around the 65mph mark, depending on where you ride you would rarely see that.

in my op the 2nd gen 250Rs are some of the best trikes ever built

this was my 83 I built and sold

no I being stupid about 90 mph, yes that type of gearing you will loose all bottome end and take off...

if you want power like hillclimbing and fast trails you dont need to be able to go 90mph you want tourqe and low gearing
