Without losing performance?
Or, is there a KX 250 cylinder that will fit the 84-85 T3 that has the exhaust port exiting the front like the 86 T3's?

Why would you want to do this? Performance is relative, and to what.
the '85 tecate was designed for the exhaust to be on the left... so goodbye airbox, goodbye gas tank, hello custom exhaust mounting and routing and/or frame altering... The only reason I could see to change pipe styles would be to get the radiators off the tripples.. If you really want to use the '86 pipe I suggest using an '86 engine or having a '85 cylinder altered for a centered port... both would require engine cradle mods... IMO its cheaper and easier to enjoy the '85 T3 for what it is..
And Hoosier... Dont you already have an '86 roller???
I think he has 84/85 motor he wants to put in 86 Frame. Or may be not.
There is a cheap DG pipe for 84/85 on ebay now.
And Hoosier I am probably selling the motor out of my 86 to speed up my project, but I just have not decided whether I am keeping the electrical for another KX250 I was looking at. Also I am not sure if the motor I have is a KX or KXT.

Well, to answer questions, I have an 86 but it isn't a roller. So I was considering combining the two.. I think the 86 needs too much work. The subframe broke off about the last six inches or so so i think I'll concentrate on modifying my 85.
People keep telling me to just enjoy my 85. I do enjoy it. But I desire to make it different, improve it and make it stand out from the rest. It's the "Tim the tool man Taylor" in me.![]()
Way way too much work. They are completely different units.
