Whats up with the YAMAHA 225 DXL 3whlr?

Do these things just die or what?? Honda 250 sx's are everywhere and lots of parts with bids on ebay but that yamaha just doesn't seem to be popular. The parts have almost no bids??

I had one 15 yrs ago and I sure liked it. There is one a few miles from me and it's sitting so I thought I'd offer him 100$ for it, but I don't want it if there useless. Just wanted some input.

They are great utility bikes; auto clutch, elctric start, shaft drive.
I just traded my stock 87 Quadsport 230 for a 85 225 DX with blue plastic in good shape. I was tired of the stocker QS and wanted to expand my trike collection. I did it!!
Pictures to come after I clean it up!!
    A good piece of history.

My best freind growing up's family ran 225's (along with a few other guys i knew). They were a pretty good machine, but riding them like a 200x would eat parts (mostly topends). They could break some good trails with spidertracks though, and went real well in the wintertime.

    re:

How do you drive your 200x you mean beat the hell out of it? rev it really high? I am going to have to do a complete top end job on mine soon. It burns about 1 liter of oil for every tank of gas LOL

I can attest to totally abusing my trike('85DR) pretty much everytime I ride it. It has absolutely no leaks anywhere on the drive train and is totally stock except for tires and a DG exhaust. I've put around 2200 miles on it since I acquired it two and a half years ago. I believe the DX/DR models to be Yamaha's most durable trikes and an excellent match for Honda's 250SX.
