Anyone ever rig up a foot brake for a 70?

If so what did you use?

I was thinking of using one of the Blaster, Motion pro rear cables and rigging up a lever. They made kit for the Blaster that eliminated the hand brake and just ran off the foot pedal.

It is kind of hard for my kids to pull the hand lever and exert enough force.I thought it would be a cool option.

    Any Ideas?

I was going to say, skippy had kits at one time, but you beat me to it. Also the 87 trx 70 had a foot break that came out of the right side engine case where the kick starter would come through. I don't know if any of those parts are still available but it is an idea. The only bad part is they are for little kids feet and you would have to mod the pedal anyway. Hope this helped. The only other alternative is just to fab up a rear disc brake system using using parts from other trikes and quads. Blue27 had rigged up a nice system on his suspension 70 and is hooking me up with a set up on my suspension 70.

    I saw Blue 27's deal.Very nice.

I have some stuff laying around here. I'm going to go out and see If I can come up with anything.

I have a parts from different machines, and a bunch of banshee and Z brake levers and footpegs.
I want to see if I can just cut and grind some everyday pieces, hopefully with minmal welding that wont really alter the 70 in a irreversable way.
Make some kind of bolt on hodge podge of parts.
The junk yard is open til 5, I am sure I can find some stuff up there.

Thanks for the offer Skippy.I may take you up on that if I need to.

I messed around yesterday with some stuff.

So far, I may use a tri-zinger footpeg and bolt it to the frame of the 70 just below the right footpeg.I plan on running a large bolt thru the zinger peg where it is hollow.
Then Use a Banshee brake lever, slightly re- bent to attach to the zinger peg with a bolt thru it for the lever to rotate on.
Then All I will have to do, is fab a cable holder for the brake lever and size up the cable.
As for what I did yesterday, for temporary fix, was I used a TRX clutch cable, and I used a Banshee radiator bracket bolted to the frame just above the drum to hold the cable..It worked out really well. And I now have 2 adjustments. One at the drum and I also have the adjuster up at the handlebar lever too.
This was done on a 74 atc 70. So the cable being external on the frame made this very easy to do.No drilling was even required.
I will continue the footbrake option later, but I am going to have to take some things to work and weld them up,and find the proper length cable.
