    1984 200s What's she worth??

I have an opportunity to purchase what seems to be a very nice 1984 200S 3 wheeler.

What do you guys think she is worth? Supposedly garage kept but not running. Last ran over a year ago and after sitting up will not currently start.

PS, I am new here and it looks like a GREAT forum!

its hard to say, here in the northeast theres alot of 200s's around, and although it looks pretty clean, without it running, I wouldnt offer more than 300 or so, unless it was totally mint and original.

something like that could fetch between 500-800 here. But I would be caustious of the statement, ran last year but doesn't now. I don't know about you guys, but I have let bikes sit for up to two years, and they will fire with just a little effort. Now that depends on many factors of the enviroment, but for the most part, if it has only sat for one year, there should be no problem. Unless rats ate into the wire harness or something

Yes, be careful. Bikes just don't stop running for no reason. I would pull the cord a couple times to make sure it at least turns over and has compression. Ask him if it shifts through the gears with no problems. I would say 300.00 not running.
    It's a celebration bitches!!!

Looks like very nice shape but not running kills it for him. I agree 300 at most. He could get quite a bit more if he just figured it out.

Thanks for the replies. He is asking $500 and the trike is about an hours drive away.

I am going to take the drive tomorrow and hopefully pick it up in the $300 range.

Any tips on what I should check or look for that might indicate a more serious problem than needing new gas and a tuneup?

pull the plug and check compression. check the plug itself and see how it looks, check the frame for cracks, check the rear axle for it being bent. check the seat pan and see if it's plastic or metal, if it's metal check to see if rust flakes fall off if they do, most likley the pan is shot.
tirn the headlamp on and pull the pull start to see if it even tries to light, it should at least get a dim light off the bulb if the electrical is working correctly.

decide what needs to be replaced and see if you want to put the $ in it. check the cables and see if they move freely. if the thrttle is locked closed, the thumb throttle can be rusted up and also the carb coudl be ful of varnish from old fuel. open the gas cap and see if the tank is full of rust or not as well.

good luck. it you who has to decide if it's worth the $ it will take to get running or not.

I sold my really clean '85 200s for $700 in the spring. Started first second pull though. I bought a 70 that hadent been run in 3 or 4 years and the owner said he couldnt get it running. Put sea foam in the tank, new plug, some fresh high test gas and opened the drain on the carb. No gas came out, kept pulling to the laquered gas started to come out. About 15 minutes and she started up. Brought it home cleaned the carb and she runs like a champ. Take a chance if the price is right.

    Well, she's mine!

Unfortunately she is not in quite as good a shape as I hoped.
The tank is well rusted so I will do the muratic acid/red kote treatment.
The throttle was completely stuck so I had to tear the carb down and it is sitting in cleaner now.
The front and rear lights are trashed.
There is no rear break pedal which I now realize is because the frame is broken where the pedal bolts to the frame.
The muffler is rusted though were it connects to the header and held on with a hose clamp.

The good news is the tires are in great shape. It has a brand new pull starter assembly. The engine sparks and has good compression. The plastic is in good shape except for the homemade holes that were made for the rack connection. The truck is in place and operational.

Looks like a have quite a project on my hands but I hope to have it back together and running in a week or so!

Bear with me as I am sure I will have some beginner questions coming up as this is my first 3 wheeler project!

$300. If I had noticed the cracked frame before I got it home I would have offered less. Oh well.

Where do you live Piroguedog? I am in Baton Rouge/Prairieville.

^ that's cool. the crack ont he 200s is not that common so you can have it welded w/o further incidents.
