Yeah, the bmx tires say no more than like 40 psi too. And no, I've never seen a tire blow apart. My drag skinnies on my t-bird say no more than 35, but they get 60. The time I put over 100 psi in an atv tire was a long time ago and no, I didn't feel comfortable, but it makes 60 look like a walk in the park.

BTW, the sticker on my 250R says to mix oil at 20:1, I don't do that either. Guess I just live on the edge

I've had a truck tire knock me about 10 feet... good thing it blew at 55psi instead of 110.... anytime you are doing experimental tire inflation you should use a clip-on chuck and a good length of hose and put the tire in a shrouded area... use the regulator on your compressor to increase the pressure.. these guys are right that if you need excessive pressure to seat a bead then something is wrong... even if the tire doesnt blow its very common to stretch the casings on atv tires... so even after they are mounted one tire will be bigger than the other with the same air pressure.. thats gay..

The biggest problem with the "high psi" tire invovled me being 13.

I thought it was interesting with this tire that it presented two pinhole leaks in the tread, but it only really showed up at 50 psi, not at 15. I went ahead and plugged them anyway.

BTW, what does the factory manual recommend for tire pressure? Since I ride in a rocky terrain at times, it's good to have a little higher than normal pressure to save the rim.

hard tails, it's up to you as far as pressure goes. your riding it and the tires are the shocks on a hardtail. so i never follow the tire pressure max i always run way less. i run by feel not by psi actually. i run about 10psi to start and let air out as needed till it feels ok. probebly run about 7psi i would imagine when done.
