    cleaning up two piece rims

I figure since I am going to put on new tire, I will clean up the two piece rims as good as possible to stop leaks. I was planning on lightly sanding all mating surfaces and then using liberal amounts of silicone to help stop leaks when I put them back together. Or am I just better off going with tubes in them?

    Thanks
