    83 250R.....Pros and Cons.....???

I have found a deal on an 83 250R that is suppsed to be complete but needing a motor rebuild. Has the parts with it, but is $500. I haven't seen it yet, but am going tomorrow. I know it's not a WC trike, but is it as good as an 84 or were there major changes that would make the 83 not so desireable......

not much changes between 83 and 84 as far as anything - a little different rear shock set up and possible different swinger - but the majority is the same - from a performance aspect.

83 is just as good as the 84 in my opinion they just beefed up the shock linkage and redesigned the rear shock in 84 I never noticed a difference in ride or performance though. I also noticed the rear axle is slightly different.

Think $500 is a fair price with parts included to do a rebuild? If it's nice complete and running what could it bring? Not sure if I'd keep it....but maybe fix it and turn it back out...

There real easy to work on so if the bikes in pretty good shape with all the rebuild parts I'd say yeah it's worth it.

I've got an 84 and its one of my favorite bikes. I would recommend buying it if it looks halfway decent.

the tripples are different but the forks are the same diameter I believe, thats for the 83-85 200x and the front wheel, rotor and axle are the same aswell as the brake caliper.

I went and looked at5 it and made the arrangements to buy it. It is in very good shape. Plastics are cracked, but the tank is mint and the seat is perfect. Maier can help with the fenders and a quick rebuild and its a mint bike.... Pics to follow....

Dusty but nice, the tank is as shiny inside as the fork tubes are....

Will 350x forks or 200x forks and/or trees fit the 83-84 250R's and is there any improvements? I heard you can put the AC250r guts inside 350x forks but would or could I use the 350x front end I have for any improvement or advantage in handling/ride? Or should I just leave it stock and cherry?

Followup question, does the 350x fork and 200x/Air Fooler 250R have the same diameter....? Will 350x forks fit in Air Fooler 250R/200x Triples, for added fork length and travel.....??

I just put on a pair of what i was told were 84 250r forks onto my 86 350x. If they are 84 forks, i cant tell the difference between them and my 350x forks. But i have no way to say for certain that is indeed what they are.
