Ok, here is the finished product. The only thing different is the supertrapp silencer thats on it now (is going to be polished later this week) is different than the previous one. The one prior was off a 200x and the one on it now is for a 250sx. Here are the pictures as promised.

Thanks to everyone for the help and interest in this build. Coming this winter are 10inch rims with bear claws, a cycle country plow, restored gas tank (metal) and a new custom MOSH seat!

great read, just picked up an 85 250sx with a ripped shaft boot and wanted to just replace the boot. now i'm thinking otherwise. but i dont have that special tool you guys all whipped up. anyway how come you guys went through all the trouble of powdercoating the stock triple trees and buying a NOS headlight only to end up putting a 200x front end on? what did you do with that stuff???

I just picked up an 85 sx a week or so ago and I am also currently rebuilding a Tecate. The bike isn't in bad shape. I picked it up for $500. New fuel and air filter and fresh gas and oil and she is a brute! I love it. Very torquey and def has enough speed for trails. Only problem.... My dif fluid looks that fluid and I can't get it clean... I go through muddy puddles and cross creeks but it was sludge when I got it. Is there a way to clean this all out so it's good agin or does it have to Ben taken apart like the pick you have to clean it?? Still runs great. But I can't ride knowing its dirty and possibly hurting something

Does it really matter? Its what he wanted. All the powdercoating was done at home, in my garage. Its really not going thru trouble when you own the sandblaster, powdercoating setup with oven, $100 grand in tools... This was built as a rider. 200x front end performs light years better than the original and allows you to have front disc brake. As far as the headlight goes we could have put whatever on it. I have a 350x headlight on my SX...

You most likely have a sealing issue. With an 85 rear swinger/diff its almost impossible to achieve 100% sealing. There are multiple locations water can get in. Majority of the o-rings, seals and mounting surfaces are junk. The swingarm boot is likely bad, along with the top seal in the differntial. Is there still a vent on the swinger with a hose attached? that hose should be run to the tallest part of the trike IMO. If its not long enough, get a long enough piece. As far as getting the differtial clean. I would fill/ride in yard/rinse several times with kerosene. But in the end it should be taken apart and rebuilt properly.

Yea it has a tube going to the top of the carb than it stops. Yea I'll try kerosene and keep filling and cleaning. Thanks bud
