Gking is SO well priced that I would never attempt to do it myself and I can definitely not get the finish he produces. $40 shipped.

Since I have some time to kill I have begun working on Jim's trike full time. Its a labor of love ya know.
I had this old 200x front master cylinder kicking around and Jim is using a 200x front end on this trike. As you can see it is definitely 25+ yrs old. In need of overhaul. When I bought the complete front brake setup on ebay I thought I got a deal. Quickly did I learn it needed a lot of work. When they stripped it from its donor they drilled out the top clamp bolt. Leaving an oversize hole with no threads. I quickly fixed that with a M6 timesert threaded insert.
Off to the glassbead cabinet already!
As you can see when I pulled the retaining snap ring the piston was broken in half. A new resi, seals, and rebuild kit is in order for this master cylinder.
Jim made it over the other night. He is now working full time and I am now not LOL. Funny stuff. We got the frame stripped. Tapped out all of the holes and made sure it was ready for powdercoating.
Steve AKA DIRTCRASHER talked about installing grease fittings in his 250SX to me along long time ago. I thought since Jim's was apart and not mine we would give it a whirl. I cut out the thin steel caps behind the swingarm bearing races. With Jim holding the frame I took a long punch and drove the old bearing races out nice and clean.
We also had to drill and easy out a broken skid plate bolt. NOW THATS HOW YOU DRILL ON CENTER.
Anyhow back on topic. After getting them plates/caps cut out the swingarm bearing area is see through. Obviously this will get new races and bearings. There are three holes on that tube. All assumably drains? Well I welded up the center hole and polished it down smooth. I then proceded to tap and drill the outer holes for 1/4-28 grease fittings. These too were welded in. And now the swinger area is FULLY greasable. MMMMHMMM. Me likey.
I then cut and smoothed out the old steering stop for the SX front end. This of course in preperation for the 200x front end with stops.

Anyone that has a 250SX should consider the 200x front end swap. You loose a ton of weight. You gain the hydraulic front brakes. It makes the SX very manuverable. Its all and all a great addition to an aleady great machine.
Since I did not have a fork tube, I some how pulled this piece of pipe out that was magically the same size as the triple clamp area. I was a bit thrilled. Onward. This is Jim's frame with newly acquired metal tank. No more CLARKE. I threw on a pair of polished 200X triples that I had laying around for a rainy day. Installed the lucky piece of pipe and went to work laying out the new stops.
Stops are needed to insure we dont smash up jims nice used tank!
Since metal takes time to get exactly what you want done quickly. I opted to first make a template out of some plywood. Worked out great. Got exactly what I wanted done very quickly. Then I made the template look pretty on the belt sander and went about tracing it to some 3/16 thick steel plate I had kicking around.
And here we are two matching steering stops. Next step is to weld these in and send the frame out to get powdercoated along with the swingarm. YIPPE!!!!!

Got a ton of stuff sand blasted the other day. Including the brake system stuff that was in pretty piss poor shape. Tapped out all the threads and prebaked the brake fluid out of the pourous aluminum. Ready for powder. Super durable WET black.

Whats this "wet black??" who sells that and do you like it better than the "super mirror black??" you meantioned it being "super durable" which leads me to the 20 questions
You guys should have the drum and drive shaft on Friday, I'm sure they will be great parts for Userj (already forgot his name...)

Steve super durable wet black is a new powder that columbia coatings is selling. I have been using it for a few weeks now. Pretty nice stuff.
Didn't see the drum and shaft today. Hopefully tomorrow. Jim did send you a money order.
