I figured since my 300r motor has low hours on it there's no sense taking it all apart just to use the cases on the mugen motor build so I dug out a motor I bought awhile back from ebay and I'll be using it for the build, I'll be sending the cases to the machine shop this weekend for boring along with the crank to be drilled all according to the mugen instructions. Here's some pics of the motor ready to be machined.

Tranny all plugged off to keep metal chips out during the machine process.

The only problem I ever had was in the clutch, the stock setup doesn't agree with 5,000 rpm launches while riding the clutch lever LOL, but with some welding on the clutch hub to make it one piece rather than two you will eliminate the clutch chatter making for much smoother launches.
I had these two pieces welded together.

1upfront, even if I don't own a air coooled 250R, I thank you for sharing all your knowledge about these trikes. A lot of people keep their project hidden and don't want to share anything with the others. Some people here claim to modify their bike to be faster but don't want to tell us what they did. Not only you show us what you did, but you also explain it.

I think I read somewhere in one of your posts that you and your Dad work at a Honda shop. Do you use all Honda parts because you think they are the best, or because you get a discount(imagine a quetsion mark here. That key on my laptop no longer works )

I buy honda parts because I have found that OEM is the best quality, me and my dad do body work at a honda car dealership but the boss owns a honda motorcycle shop next door and I get my parts there for a discount.

I got my cases back now I'm just waiting on my piston and crank, then I can mock it up and decide weather the piston will be usable, it's a polaris scrambler 400 piston.
