Well, here is my tecate. you migh have noticed, it needs "a little" work.

Does anyone know what's the best way to build the rear fender? I can't find one over here and noone on ebay.com wants to send to Europe.

I thought about bended stainless steel plates.
    Or something like that.

The same thing with those plastic peaces that are supposed to be on the fueltank.

I know, the chain is too loose and some screws are missing (the preowner didn't really care for that).

I liked those style of tire. Know if they are any lighter than Maxxis SurTrak?

I always though sheet metal fabbed up like they do on custom street bikes would be cool for the rad shrouds, but possibly dangerous.

Looks likes a good start to me. The motor looks clean and if it runs and rides good, well, that's what matters most.

If those are Maxxis SurTrak rear tires? If so, they are too heavy IMO (like Realator & Spider Tracs). But that is probably the least of your worries now.

Maybe I should put my motor up for grabs since that one on ebay went for like $500.
i have started on it, i'm a bit father than that pic. needed alot of work. that shock in the pic isn't yours, yours is in alot better condition than that on. shafts pitted and hose is torn. junk basicaly!

there bear claws. heavy mo fo's. i think the sur traks are lighter. i have a set. i probaby will never use those bear claws. one has a tube and the other is flat.

the realtors work good on lt500's! in certain conditions...

I found them on ebay.com and they only ship that fender in the U.S., not even Alaska or Hawaii.

I wont be making a topic on it for a few days, but I got to see the trike today... and ummm

Asked me to give him 3 days to get the parts and one last ride.

As for a reed cage upside down, I dont think it makes a difference, unless the flow ports are different on top and bottom.
    Nothing to ride... for now

You can still buy the rear fender from Kawasaki. Last time I looked it was about $140 from cheapcycleparts.com

I think chaplin kawasaki takes advantage of people. Service Honda might order it too at a discount.

    Missed this thread

Well I missed this thread and I love to show mine off and look at all the sweet Tectaes. Its not as nice as alot of em on here but to me shes pretty good. It came a long way over the 13 years since I got her for a winter project when I got hurt. I just finished it this last weekend. Need a new stator and flywheel cause I have the grenade style still in there.

Sadly, I have to agree with you on this. They definitely jack their prices up on discontinued or low availability items. Case in point: The NOS chain slider they have on ebay for $120. I have a good one on mine, but I would make one out of that white industrial plastic before I would give $120+ shipping for a factory one.

If I were a collector or a "restore" person that built machines to just look at(buying up all the rare/discontinued parts at any cost that'll never get truely USED), I might feel differently, though. I'm a "form follows function" kinda guy, so they could keep it if it were up to me.
