    What carb is this???

This carb is on my 86 Tecate and I can't find a idle adjuster on it? I have tried turning the choke knob and nothing works. It is a Mikuni and the only numbers i can find on it are T38 01 on one part and T5 Y1 on another part. Also I installed a thumb throttle off of a KFX 400 and it doesn't open the slide all the way unless i tighten up the cable so much that the slide wont close all the way; and on the top where the cable goes in there is a extra hole in it that is siliconed up. It seems to run good but just wont idle, any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks

4 stroke thumb throttles are different. i tried to mount one on my 84 tecate. ended up loving the stock twist throttle. you need a kxf throttle

I think those style carbs were used on LT250R Q-Racers mostly. If memory serves me correctly, there should be (or had) an adjuster that threaded into the top cap of the carb, (kinda like the adjuster on the clutch lever). What you would do is turn it counter clockwise, which raised where the cable seated into the carb, thus lifting the slides resting location giving you your desired idle. I just used an adjuster off of the handbrake for a bicycle, fit perfect. Or maybe you could use washers, or a small nut to raise the seat on the carbs mounting plate.
