It might be seized up from running out of oil but its probably a good deal parts on it are worth that much.

it might be top end or bottem end top end isnt that difficult might cost 350 for someone to machine your cylinder and buy a piston.

    i'd do it.
you may spend $300-$350 doing a top end rebuild and then you got a $1300+ trike.

Do you have a 1968 wheel horse or a brand new diesel kubota? If i had a decent running mower i'd trade it for a 350x and a little cash if they guy spent the time/money to deliver/pick up, but thats just me.

Looks like a clean machine that just needs someone to respect it and put a little time and money into it. The top end is a lot less expensive than an entire motor. I'd expect to pay over 300.00 but you can save some money by pulling it out yourself and i'd bet you will get the motor back faster that way as well...

...crank bearings? his cam journals are going to be utter crap? you're going to need a new cam, and new rockers.

full kit from megacycle, plus piston and boring....550. that's not touching the bottom end.

but you'll have a fairly nice engine if you make some wise choices.

oh...and if your rockers wore, you'll have shavings all throughout your engine

    That’s what I was thinking.

Why spend $1000+ for a machine that probably needs several hundred $$$ worth of motor work. The 350x motors are not cheap to rebuild, especially when they are run low on oil which trashed the cam journals.

getting a good used 350x motor frrom soemone on here or online may be a better option. that's always a thought, what about a quad ex motor? don't they have chain driven 400s? if so, would that be an option?

not an option with the 400.

it is an option with a 300ex...but not worth it.

best bet is to buy a new one if the stock engine is heavily damaged.

if you rebuild the engine with good parts though...you will have a nice running engine. with a roller bearing cam.
