    Atc 70?

So what can you tell me about an ATC 70? There is one close to me that I was thinking of looking at. It's an '83 that has been sitting for over a year, but ran at the time according to the seller. He said he'd let it go for $200. Deal or no deal?

I'd do it for certain. I did the same thing recently, I just haven't posted pics yet (it's my 1st 70). Too cold to go out and do that. Do it!!

yes, but becarefull of these stories of how "It ran last year"
dude, I am sorry, but I have had bikes sit for 3 years and they fire right up. It may have a problem, but either way, if you like these bikes, which who doesn't LOL!, Go for it. Just beware is all I am saying. Make sure it has spark, smell the gas tank, check for rust everywhere and anywhere, and so on. But even if it has problems, it is worth the $200, Cheers!

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I was thinking it would be a good deal even if it did need some work. Is there a thread with some general info about these? I'm at work and don't have time to search right now. I never learned very much about the smaller ones, but it looks like it would be fun!

Don't worry too much weather or not it ran when it was parked. These engines are very simple and cheap to repair. The bike looks to be in very good condition and that's what really matters.

It looks more like an 85 than an 83. 85's are more desirable due to the 4-up tranny.

Deal for sure. I paid $180 for one in similar condition but the gas tank was gone. Runs good now.
Then I got one that did not run (points) but had new rings for $80 and snagged the gas tank. Then I picked up one that was missing the carb also with new rings (same guy) for $50 and put that tank on the 2nd one.
I freakin love these 70s and now have 2 nice running bikes and a parts bike. I've got around $325 in all of them. Can't beat that. I've also got a nice SL70 and I'm working on a 4 speed Trail (CT) 70 now. 70s kick ass!

I've been out of town and haven't went to look at it yet, but if it's not getting spark, what's the most likely cause? Points? How much $ would that be to replace?
