Need advice on my 84 ATC250R

Just picked it up over the weekend for $500. Think I did ok...

Here's a rundown of the bike with some questions mixed in! Feel free to help me out if you have any ideas!

It runs and rides fine but is a little hard to start in the real cold (it was 15 today and it took a good 10 kicks to get it started) but fires right up when warm. Think it needs a carb adjustment or something?

Bike was fully taken apart not too long ago and the engine/frame were repainted... good and bad, as that might mean it was thrashed in the past.

I need new tires... what's on it are dry rotted. What's best for general use? No mud really, just some woods riding. I'd like to get some nice aluminum rear rims for it but all I can find are universal ones (like on Denniskirk) and they don't guarantee fitment.

Front brake works great & the rear is all there EXCEPT the caliper. This seems to be HIGHLY elusive... I know the 83/84 fits, what about the earlier ones? Later ones?

Has all new Meier plastics. New seat cover too. Awesome.

Has stock exhaust with DG slip-on end... I'd like to get the DG pipe for it if I can find one...

Has Scott grips... but not like that's a big deal lol

Has a Uni filter too! WOW!!

Has a new stator by 'Ricky Stator'. Guess that's cool.

No lights... trying to find at least a headlight for it. The guy before me tore them off and put an aluminum plate on the front with stickers.

So this is my new baby. Eyeing a nice Wiseco piston kit on ebay... around $150. I'd like to know that I'm not going to be stranded in the woods haha

I have a 83-85 200X front caliper on my 84 R rear. Bolts right on and are easier to find. there is a thread somewhere here if you search - and it tells what you can use - something like 2000 and up KX80 or something like that - should be a quick easy cheap find on ebay.

here is the link - look for whatever fits 200X front and you are all set.

    Townsend... near Fitchburg/Groton.

It would be cool to meet up with a fellow 250r'er... maybe go for a ride sometime!
