if you had a choise get an 86
86 has a inmproved right main case for better oiling, stronger frame (still weak), and i like how the clutch cable is not under the exhaust pipe on an 86.
that being said as long as you keep the oil full you wont have a problem with a 85 motor

there was a thread of a dude showing what to do to beef up a 350x frame but i dont know if its still up.
