    Carb Rebuild Shocker!!HELP!!got pic up

Heres the deal, so I pick up this super mint bigred a few months back 85 250es. The guy I bought it from said he had trouble getting it started, so when I got it home I drained the gas through the carb for a few min, put a new plug in it, and after some cranking it did start sputtering, and finaly started, once warm it would start and run fine. after sitting over night it would start really hard, I would just have to keep cranking it over and over with the electric start and it would finaly start sputtering, and eventualy run. also worth noting is that I could use no choke at all or it just would not start. with no choke it would eventually start, and run good. I didnt want to burn out the starter so I decided to get a carb kit and rebuild it. Upon dissasembly I noticed that there was NO PRIMARY NOZZLE, OR NEEDLE JET PRESENT IN MY CARB How the trike started and ran at all is beyond me, but I dont know alot about the carb opperation. my biggest problem is that the rebuild kit I bought does not contain the primary nozzle!! And according to bike bandit its not available, so what do I do? the kit does have a needle jet though. Also the rubber o-rings were all missing from my carb If anyone has some insight as to whats going on, and or where I can get a primary nozzle let me know

It is the primary, or main nozzle I need, not a needle, or jet. I dont think the primary nozzle comes in the kits, atleast it didnt come in mine. I got a moose utility division carb repair kit. Are ther better kits that come with the nozzle?

So just to clear things up, is it missing the air/fuel ratio screw, the needle from the carb slide, or the float needle? Either way, your carb kit shouldve come with all 3.

This one from Hyperparts should have what you're looking for, Ive used several of their carb kits before and I highly recommend them. Pic shows everything it comes with.

Okay, you unscrew and remove the primary jet, after that the primary nozzle which should be behind it falls out. I will try to post a pic!

I can tell everyone is confused, When I get home tonight I will post a pic to try and clarify, but anyone who has a 250es manual should know what i mean. The primary jet screws into the carb body itself, after removing the jet the nozzle will slide out. I just looked at the 250sx manual and that carb has no primary jet or nozzle. I thought they would be the same, but there not.

I hope the diagram clears up all your questions, it clearly shows the primary jet, and primary nozzle. I unscrewed the jet, and there was NO nozzle. no carb kit I have seen provides this nozzle. Now there are a ton of you guys with 250es's, can anyone shed some light on this. What are my options?

I see what you're talking about now. You are right, no carb kit is going to include that piece. Your best bet is to see if it is still available from the dealer, and if not, grabbing one from a parts carb is your only other option.

Is it strange that it started and ran without these parts, can anyone explain this to me?

I like the diagram but I don't like what there calling a couple of parts.

The primary nozzle (starter jet) is on the top of the carb and presses in, does not thread in until 1986/87 carbs. Then it threads in the side and the top has a rubber plug in it....

The primary jet I call the pilot jet.

The other assembly goes, Main jet, needle jet holder and then the needle jet itself.

I can see it starting, but I can't see it performing very well!!

Any pics of the carb itself??

I will take some pics of the carb and post them tonight. The carb looks like new like the rest of the trike, except for the missing parts.
