    where to start, carb jetting

ok guys and girls. i am about to dive head first into jetting my 34 pj carb for my 84 250r. it came off a sand draged 250r 4 wheeler.

what i would like to know is if there is a good starting point. the jets in the carb right now are 138 main and 48 pilot. i think this is kind of lean for my trike. i have heard of some one running the same carb on a 83 that is at like 160 for a main and like 60 for a pilot.

so what i am asking is how do you figure out where to start at. like before i even start the trike up. everyone says "go rich" well what would be rich? i don't want to cause any damage right off the batt! is there a sight that you can put in some info and it will give you a starting point?

    thanks.
