That is definitely a Klemm research pipe and silencer. Mine was the natural coloring with the welds and all standing out. They are definitely a piece of art. As I said before the whole pipe from head pipe to stinger is cone welded. No stamped pieces. Amazing work. Wanna sell it? :-)

Yes, I have talked to Harry Klemm via e-mail. Here is his response to the Tecate exhaust.
    "Doug,
Thank you for the email, and many kind words. I've heard through the grapevine that the older hand-build cone style KR pipes are getting big money nowadays .... very nice.... but ironic :-) To say the least, I don't have any, nor have the means to make any (sadly).

Back in the day, the pipes were actually made by a shop called Power Pros (Dan & Tom Kistler) in Placentia California. They are still in biz today, and still building exhausts (although I think mostly 4stroke stuff). I don't have a phone for them, but I suspect a quick google search could turn them up. Who knows, they may still have the tooling to make them.

Good luck on your project. Respectfully, Harry Klemm Group K"

Here is his e-mail at Group K. They do mainly watercraft stuff now.

I have also talked to Power Pros about the Tecate exhaust. Their response was almost hateful. They do not and will not build any Tecate pipes.

Hmmmm, interesting stuff dcreel. Thanks for the info... Seems that Power Pros was a major player back in the day for high quality custom exhaust fabrication. But very little of their own stuff is out there. Could it be even more more obscure than Klemm?

It would be sweet if someone here had dyno access... and could borrow everyones T3 pipes of different makes and have a dyno shootout.. It would cost alot for shipping though..

HA HA ... Back in the day we used to go test pipes and silencers racing down this 1/2 mile dirt road ... we would trade pipes, silencers and run again .. we had the CT,PF,PT,DG,Answer, etc .... on the 85-86 ATC's of course ... we had NO Dyno's
just stuff we spent our money on.. we had ALL of the pipes !!
the BEST one was the Paul Turner High Rev with the Steel DG Silencer
the 85 T-3 i had had the Answer holeshot .. cool pipe back then

I can tell you the difference between the Klemm research pipe I had and the DG pipe is huge. The size of the headpipe was massive and hung pretty low. I was jumping out at Devore, CA and the headpipe landed on a rock off a jump. It completely contorted and flattened the pipe. I kept it for a long time, until my parents threw it away.

I may have to get a Jemco.. I love the cone welded pipes. They just look like art to me.

Yes, nice tire and hubs there. I have no idea what brand the hubs might be, but i have some durablue 4x4 early spline count aluminum hubs for comparison. That front Hoosier is worth some $$$$$, and very cool. These durablues are 2 3/4 pounds lighter per set lighter than comparible oem 84 4x4 hubs.

1984 had gold rims made out of steel.

    1985 had silver aluminum rims.

I wouldn't call either of them rare. They aren't everywhere but you can find them for a decent price on ebay and stuff usually.
