200x Questions swinger

I have an 84 200x and i want to do an extended swingarm i have an extra arm and the means to extend it myself here at work.... the question is how long do you recommend im thinking either 3 or 4 inches... ill be running everything from trails to dunes and even ice in winter.. so what suggestions or opinions do you all have on this and what is working for you..... or in some cases not working..

What is your reason for extending it??

Unless your gonna add monster power, and or drag it, there is really very little reason to extend a 200X.

2 strokes make tons of power, that create wheelspin and front end lift. But we 4 pokes don't have that issue unless we build th hell out of the motor.

Is it "NEAT" to say you have a lengthened swingarm - SURE!! but is it functional and worth the effort with a longer chain and brake line on a stock or close to stock motor?

well im looking at going with a similar setup to you on the new motor 12:1 and a cam. it already has a dg pipe and i big mikuni on it ... i was looking for a little more stability on the dunes and trail and this thing should put some serious grunt off the line once the motor done...

2 inches longer is what I ran.
Gives a bit more wheel travel and the longer wheel base helps with high speed stability and through the whoops.
You may need to stiffen up the rear suspension though due to increased leverage.
