Cant remember if it was on here, or .org! but someone used to or still does make swingarm bolts for the 83 250R! I need one of these desperately so any information would be most appreciated![]()

Any luck finding one? I picked up a parts trike the other day and the swingarm bolt is MINT (threads are perfect, nut is perfect, and the brake lever side is pristine) - but of course I can't get the sucker out!!!
I've been pb-blasting for days and it just won't budgeSo it seems I'm going to hunt one down as well...
Thanks for any leads!
Thanks! I just got finished reading a post of yours in another thread where you described that and was going to try that tonight.
I've been fearful of using a sledgebecause I didn't want to destroy the end of the bolt, but I really like the idea of holding a smaller sledge up against the bolt and using a larger one to smack it good.
Will try tonight - cross my fingers!
Thanks again!
That's why you put the nut on backwards. It will protect the threads and give you a larger surface to hit.

I got the sucker out!!! thanks again d@mmit! that "sledge against sledge" tip is golden!!
Yeah it really works. I posted it in the world class help section and a couple people pointed out that it could be potentially dangerous to hit aagainst another
so I just wanted to ad in this thread, be careful. Wear safety goggles. Apparently the
s can chip and send a fragment flying. If you have a large, fat punch, use that in place of the smaller
instead. It has to be something substantial though. A small punch will not transfer all that force to the bolt like a big chunk of steel will.
Next time I do it, I'll probably wrap thes in duct tape just to add a little extra protection. I don't have anything else that will work and I really don't think there's much risk personally. I don't know about you but I didn't even have to hit it very hard.

Don't hits together, use a soft metal like brass or aluminum between the part and
. A piece of hard wood is good also.
Here's my experience with it.
My pop and I were splitting wood with a 10lb sledge and a splitting axe, the old man took a piece ofabout the size of a dime 2 inches to the left of the sweet spot. It went in about 3 inches and he spent 3.5 weeks in bed with a drain tube and a set the size of a soft ball. He said it was like being shot. It was very scary, lots of blood and he spent 4 hours in surgery. In total he lost 6 weeks before he could get back to work.

A piece of wood wouldn't work very well. Everything I've read about people chippings seem to have one thing in common. They're winding up and swinging HARD. The way I did this I didn't have to swing it hard at all. I basically hold the big
with one arm and swing it like a croquet mallet. I couldn't put that much force into it if I tried.
A big brass punch would be ideal but lacking anything else, I personally won't be afraid to do it this way again. I will put some goggles on just to be safe but there's no way I'm using enough force to lodge something deep into my flesh.
